ISLog or EIDAuth alternatives for Windows NFC Login?

Well, if you already have GIDS applet on top of contactless interface, then you should use it, nothing will beat it with current Microsoft implementation. No real value to go with PGP or PIV from my opinion if you have GIDS. And for local account with GIDS use, EIDAuthenticate was made for that and was best on the past decades.
Leosac Desktop Authentication is more about using contactless card not being made for such purpose (without GIDS), just like was ISLOG Logon before. Security is lower for sure if you use it for complete authentication (password will be cached on card or on database) and not identification only, but it still answers some needs.

Hey @unregistered436 @amal! Happen to still have those EXE’s? I have ‘ISLOG NG Server’ 4.10.0220 and it’s BARELY holding on by a thread and I need to upgrade it (due to .Net issues). Any way you could ‘hook me up’? The ‘ISLOG Logon NFC Community’ won’t help me out here.

Do you mean these… ?

No @amal; it would be for the ISLOG NG Server install.

I don’t think anyone here, including myself, ever bothered with any kind of server deployment, just the Windows local authentication mechanism. If I recall correctly, the purpose of ISLOG was to support smartcard authentication on Windows without server involvement because once you have active directory set up and your Windows client machine connected to AD, you can use Microsoft’s built-in minidriver for smartcard authentication without any extra software. The ISLOG authentication software was meant to introduce this capability to standalone Windows machines… at least the ISLOG community edition we were testing focused on that.

Gotcha. We implemented this because we didn’t want the blue collar workers to have their credentials; all they needed to do is put down their cards, enter their pins, and ‘bobs your uncle’.

I’ve been using Rohos without an issue.

Are you on a domain with managed workstations? If so there’s probably a Windows native solution you could use. What readers and credentials (cards) are you using now?

There’s definitely better solutions out there, but the business isn’t interested in investing in it right now, hence why I looking for the install files. But thanks anyways!

Fair. Sorry we couldn’t help

All good! Not your fault. :stuck_out_tongue:
