Just got the apex flex implanted, some questions

hey guys, I got my apex flex impanted and had a few questions. does anyone use their apex flex with an iphone? I know everyone says to wait a bit because it typically wont even be scannable during the first few days after being implanted and my piercer said the same thing as well, so I’m not worried, but I’m officially on day 3 and everything looks pretty much healed in terms of no swelling, no bruising, and my incision is closed nicely.

so far, Fidesmo hasnt found the chip when I’ve attempted to scan it to connect, so I’m wondering if I should even be checking with an iPhone at all. I had it implanted in my L3 (left hand, below ring finger on top of hand) by a professional listed on the approved piercers here.

thanks in advance!

Let me run through the normal list:

  • Did you happen to try to scan/use the implant while it was still in its sterile pouch (before install)? And did it work then?
  • Do you have any RSP stickers you could try in conjunction with your phone? They really do work wonders.
  • Have you tried something other than your iPhone? Do you have access to a Pm3 or maybe an ACR122u? Anyone you know have an Android you could test with the TagInfo app? (You may consider trying TagInfo yourself.)

We always suggest, not to expect any sort of reliable, consistent and repeatable reads within the first 2 weeks, regardless of how well healed you appear.

Flexies are a bit faster, but dont exepect too much for a little while.

iPhones arent great with NFC reading.
Their antennas are in a great spot, but its let down by performance

me in all my stupid glory didnt even scan it while it was still in the package lol my excitement got the better of me and I didn’t think it through. from what I understand though, every chip is tested before being shipped, no?

i just ordered some repeater stickers, thank you for that!

You are not stupid for that. We all get excited and jump on things, me included.

Yes, from my understanding every single implant from DT (or technically VivoKey in this case) is individually tested. It worked when it was placed in the sterile pouch.

My unprofessional opinion is not to worry until both:
1- A full week has passed after install
and
2- The Apex fails to show any sign of life from at least 3 different readers including an android phone or Proxmark3

Even then, it is not unheard of for implants to not read much or at all until 3 weeks has passed.

when i scan the area with the NFC reader on my flipper, i do get a reading for an ISO14443-4A (Unknown), so I’m assuming it is working, (right???) just not on my iphone (as of yet)

This is a really good sign (yes). By the time you get the RSP in it should probably have healed enough to be scanned properly, maybe not consistently, but good enough to ease your mind.

You can use this guide to help with the placement of the stickers.
