Just got a KBR1 to use on my desktop running Win10.
Regardless of the USB port, the KRBR1 keeps beeping. I’ve already disabled USB selective suspend, and done a restart. I’ve tried plugging it into a power strip with USB ports, and it seemed to work. However, that’s obviously not connected to my PC.
I’m fairly certain this is a power issue, any ideas?
Solved: Fixed by plugging the unit into a powered USB hub attached to the PC.
The USB hub is pushing max power while likely the USB ports are configured to only supply the minimal power output unless the device requests more power… and I don’t think the kbr1 USB interface is asking.
I doubt that many vendors would implement that as it adds complexity. I’ve never seen anything beyond some form of simple overcurrent protection.
I’d have to dig through the standard, but as far as I kmia devices are supposed to be “polite” on this regard, hosts just have to not let a bad device or cable cause damage.
It’s probably something related to the voltage provided or the rdson of tbe mosfet that controls the power for each port or something. But I’m sleep deprived so I could be talking nonsense.
