M1448a Magnet implanted the wrong side up

Hello, so when the magnet arrived the little smiley face was already mostly wiped off of it and it must have gotten turned around at some point during the implantation. So now the North Pole is facing towards the body. So now I want to ask, will I need to get it reimplanted? Let’s say I want to attach something to my arm with built in magnets, for example a flashlight, will it get repelled now? I believe the shape is also slightly different on each side, will that affect me at all? What are other ramifications of this? Should I ask to get it reimplanted? I only have it for one day and I don’t want it to reject.

If you had a use case where polarity mattered then it matters. Otherwise the correct side up is the side installed up :slight_smile:

As Tacos says, unless you have a specific use case where you need north side up, it won’t make a difference. For the first couple of weeks after I installed mine I was actually able to flip it under the skin using another strong neodymium magnet. Not advising you to try it but figured it was worth mentioning.

As the other guys said, that depends!

Do you have a your flashlight handy?
it’s a 50/50 if the manufacturer install the magnet North up :magnet: :compass:
But its also 50/50 with your next flashlight.

Also remember, you wouldn’t want another magnet “stuck” to yours for a long period of time as you will crush the tissue between and it could cause necrosis

If you don’t have a specific magnetic thing with known orientation that you want to attach to it, but want to attach arbitrary magnetic objects in the future, then it’s likely that those arbitrary objects will not have consistent orientation between them regardless. (50/50 as @Pilgrimsmaster mentioned.) So I’d say, leave the magnet however it settles in your arm and if you encounter an object whose orientation doesn’t line up with that, flip the magnet in the object.
