Magnet Removal advice

I came across this forum trying to find someone who might be able to offer advice or remove my magnets for me.

I’m in the Kent area but honestly, I’ll happily travel if someone could help!

kent uk?

go to A&E say you banged your hand and you think the encapsulation broke on them, they’ll xray them and remove them.

Yeah the UK! Unfortunately they won’t touch them, nor will my GP.

I work in the local hospital and trust me when I say there’s no way I could get any of my medical professional friends to do it - I’ve tried.

I’ve looked into having it done privately but the price is extortionate. So my last hope before trying to do it myself is finding someone like a body mod artist who would be willing.

The person who implanted them no longer does it and he hasn’t been able to recommend me anyone either.

Cries in US healthcare

What’s the timeline on this? Where are the magnets?

The only surgeon who responded to me quoted me £5000, I know it’s probably not as much as what you’d get charged over there but on an NHS salary it’s not feasible :joy:

One magnet in the back of each hand, to the right of the EPL tendon - my MRI is scheduled for 21st of this month, but I’m happy to push it back if I have to.

@StarGate01 @Satur9

Do you know anyone in Europe who could handle this?

Frankly traveling to the US and back would be cheaper than £5000. Absolutely insane if someone comes to the US to save money on healthcare.

Do you need an MRI or will a cat scan be sufficient?

I questioned this and my consultant said I need an MRI as there’s possible nerve involvement with my issue. I’m not in a massive rush however with it.

Unfortunate, that sucks. I absolutely recommend against self-removal. Removal is a lot messier than an install and the back of the hand has a lot of delicate tissues

NHS took one of my magnets out last year and they’re taking out my xm1 next week, gp gave me an ortho appointment and xrayed it.

i am in manchester tho.

if you can get some injectable lidocaine and a scalpel, ill remove them for you, ive done over 50 installs on other people.

Yeah don’t do what I did unless it’s a last resort.

Did you just ask your GP to get them removed?

I mentioned it to my GP a couple years ago and they basically said no lol

my magnet that i got removed was damaged and inflamed, went to A&E, they sent me to minor injuries unit, they sent me for xray and then i went back to minor injuries and they removed it same day, whole thing took less than 2 hours.

this one, i went to a&e and because its not inflamed they sent me to get xray then told me to go my gp and my gp referred me to ortho clinic with appointment to be removed.

if you say it’s a medical problem, it’s a medical problem. regardless if you chose to put them in, the duty of care is to your health. they’d not refuse someone with a super infected piercing or tattoo

Fun fact, you can make it a medical problem by hitting your hand repeatedly with a hammer.

I usually go to Piercing-Point-Ulm in Ulm, Germany, they also do involved stuff.

Wow, kinda crazy that none of your colleagues is willing to have a look. I most countries I lived some afterhiurs elective surgery between consenting adults allegedly, never witnessed it I’m joking was never a problem, but I imagine the bod mod crackdown in the UK was pretty bad. Sorry about that.

As mentioned by other people, the legitimate way to do it would be flying somewhere in EU, which would still be significantly cheaper than 5k (DE and IT being the first easy to reach option I could think of).

Are you on a rush? Do you think the implant is compromised?

The guy I had put my x series implants in, from memory, offered to remove them if I needed. Might be worth asking.
It’s Interskin Studios in Walton-on-Thames which are on the approved partners list. Professional Installation Partners - Dangerous Things

I’m from Spain, and my body modification artist is capable of doing it. He has removed cysts, taken out hormonal implants, does silicone work, magnets, and scarification. If you want, I can give you his Instagram. Getting both xGlow implants put in only cost me $50.

I did find his details and I have messaged him on instagram but he’s away till 19th!

I do have a friend who is willing to try but can’t get hold of any injectable lidocaine so unless anyone from the UK has any alternative ideas here I’m going to try Emla.

I don’t think they’re compromised at all which is great considering how old I’ve had them but unfortunately means none of my colleagues will take them out for me! I’m only mildly in a rush, as I’m due to have an MRI on the 21st, however this is something which can be pushed back if need be.

You’ll be fine on emla.

Bleeding will be annoying, but pain is totally manageable with small subdermal implants.
