I just received my NeXT v2, and I’m also just getting into lifting, which sucks because from what I see, they aren’t a good mix. I read that for the 2-4 weeks after install, you shouldn’t lift heavy or do much physical activity to prevent movement. I’ll have to wait until December to install anyways, but what about after? Can too much strain cause the implant to relocate even after being fully healed? I just don’t want to go in for a deadlift and have a glass grenade go off in my hand lol. On a broader note, how durable is the NeXT v2? How hard would my hand have to get smashed to break it? TLDR: Even after being healed and set, is it still bad to lift with an implant?
I wouldn’t worry about it, start easy and stop or readjust if you start feeling any discomfort or pain, but you should be fine
The longer you wait and the easier you go after install the more likely it stays exactly where you want it, but it’s not extra prone to breaking
Thanks! I somehow missed the product testing page. That’s very reassuring. I’ll probably ease back into it and take those collagen supplements to speed up healing.
I had a NExT break in my hand after a ~75lb tensioner spring in my dryer popped out of its mount and slapped the implant with the edge of the steel. I had it in the top of my hand and had hit it on things lots of times before that. I’m attaching an x ray, let’s call it “what not to do.”
I used to powerlift with daily sets of Olympic lifts, and that was never a problem for me. Take a break for a bit to let it heal and you should be perfectly fine.
Thanks for posting the X-ray image! I’m noticing that it’s sitting pretty close to the bone. Do you think it could have gotten “smacked” between the bone and the strap?
