Questions regarding magnets and potential necrosis. I have purchased the m04280bar and plan to have it on my left forearm. I intend on primarily using this for lifting such as when removing screws from a device, I can place it on the magnet location and potential 3D printed projects to place on the magnet. It was brought up to be cautious for necrosis on the area for extended periods of time, but I am unsure about what could cause necrosis and what doesn’t.
My ask is and this is for lifting purposes, what actions are known to cause necrosis and be a danger to my body? If I were to put objects where the magnet gets installed, are any and all objects considered dangerous, or just the objects that stay on for too long? What are the earliest signs of necrosis that tells me to stop doing what I’m doing?
I hope to use the magnet to store screws when uninstalling and installing objects at work, to use it as a metal USB key storage so I know where it is, and potential for 3D printed magnetic storage like a small box with magnet printed in the object.
Necrosis occurs due to restricted blood flow. Basically, if you keep objects attached to your magnet which pinch the tissue either severely or slightly but over a long period of time such as to impact the oxygenation of the tissue between the object and the magnet, necrosis is a risk factor.
Keeping small screws and other small objects for short periods of time poses no serious risks in my opinion.
Ah gotcha. So that means anything with actual attachments has potential for necrosis especially for extended periods of time, but something like screws for the small duration I’m holding them shouldn’t pose much of a threat?
I’m very excited about it but want to make sure I don’t do something by accident out of the excitement I have, especially playing with it directly after installation.
Do you happen to have more information about the effects of the magnets with necrosis linked, such as experience of doing specific activities that lead to negative outlooks that I can avoid? I tried looking around the forum but couldn’t find anything exacts to avoid doing except the obvious extreme extended periods of time. I’m hoping to utilize the magnet as a tool and less of a sensory object.
I have xg3v2 in my forearms (I wanna replace them with the bars) I use a small flashlight with a magnetic clip I can clip on my arm and use. It works quite well. However, after a while it will start to ache. Just listen to your body.
I have forgotten things on it like a sim tool… After a few hours it just hurt when I took it off and it left a deep line for a few hours.
Best advice. Ever body is different and every installation is different and every use case is going to be somewhat different, so giving any other advice will naturally come with a kit of caveats and provisos.
