Hallol,
I am new to the subject and would like to copy cards that are in daily use here for testing purposes.
I have already bought a cheap Chinese reader-writer for this purpose, but it is no longer recognized by the Windows 11 PC. The USB connection to the software no longer works.
I would therefore now like to buy a new reader-writer and have come across the Proxmark 3 Easy.
But it still depends on the cards.
With the cell phone and the MCT (Mifare Clasic Tools) software I could already read that this is not a “classic” card.
I see a 7-byte UID, CL2
RF Tech says: ISO/IEC 14442, Type A. And I got an ATQA, a SAK and ATS value. The Manufacture is “Mifare DesFire or Desfire EV1, NXP”
Please, which cards do I need and which reader-writer?
Thank you
DesFire… Perfect copies and clones are not easy to make. You will likely have to register new cards into the system.
Do you have control of the access control system as an admin? Do you know somebody who does and would be willing to add these cards/fobs?
It may also be worth showing a screenshot of the card reads from the TagInfo app.
No, I am not the admin of the system, just a user and would just like to know how it works.
I am not sure which information from the dump can be posted here and which data is not for the public.
IC Manufacturer says: NXP Semiconductors
IC Type: Mifare Desfire EV1 (MF3ICDH81)
Size 8 kB, and
there must be over 40 lines with ISO FIDs
Unfortunately, the cards you’re looking for assuming you’re not an admin are pretty hard to come across. “Magic Mifare EV1 8k” (though 1k, 2k, or 4k may also work depending on several factors), would probably be what you are looking for, but I’ve not seen any available on the open market.
If you simply want to learn about access control hands on, I’d suggest setting up a small homelab. You can test all you want, see the whole picture, both from an inside and outside perspective, and you can make as many clones as you want without catching the attention of people who may not be fond of you messing with their system. UniFi Door Access - Ubiquiti may be a good place to start for you.
If you want cheaper options than what is above, I can help you look for hardware and software.
If you would still like to clone these cards… It may be possible but probably not worth the effort for learning purposes alone.
Hello and thank you very much for these frank words and your assessment of the situation.
Let’s say I had cards like this. What do I need for a writing device?
