I got the blue NExT v2 installed exactly 2 weeks ago. All chips works but performance is still subpar. For the NFC chip I can still only get it to read on an iPhone when there is no case and I hold it in a very exact place and orientation. When there’s even a thin case on it just doesn’t scan at all. Also the blue LED can only be seen in a pitch black room using my pm3 and when I try in a sunny room even not under direct sunlight I just can’t see the LED glow at all. It also still is slightly tender when gently pressing on the implant.
I got it implanted in the normal place between my thumb and pointer (P0 I think it’s called). It is right up against my thumb bone if that affects anything.
Is all of this the normal recovery process? Am I not supposed to be able to see the LED unless it’s very dark?
It’s typical. Blood blocks light. Depends on your installation… some people have a nearly bloodless installation and can see the light immediately and it pretty much works from day one… other people it takes weeks, usually 3 to 4 weeks at least, for the body to clear enough of the trapped blood away from the implant site so you can clearly see the LED shine.
Also performance does take a hit during this time. It should improve. Since you are using an iPhone, are you using the vertical orientation shown here;
Thanks for the information both of you! That’s what I figured but I’ve seen people talk about recovery time only being 2 weeks so I was starting to get a little worried. Guess I’ll just have to keep waiting.
I’ve found that sometimes the easiest to way to read x-series implants is on the same position than in the video but on the display side around the face id. Sometimes this seems to be more reliable than on the backside without case but that’s just my experience.
