But could it be possible to add a xG3 magnet somehere in the mix to make the implant the ultimate all-around implant? The xG3 may have to be shortened to half its size, but it would look something like this:
This is the problem, the magnet directly affects the induction, and extended exposure to a magnet causes the ferrite core to lose efficiency furthering the problem
X-series already struggle with coupling, adding a magnet to the mix is bad news bears
If I were to design a new implant, I’d probably just want a dual frequency LED. Say blue for high, and green for low. Basically just a X-series RFID diagnostic card. LED’s are cool, but it’d serve an actual purpose then (identifying frequency types).
Dual frequency LEDs would definitely seem like the logical next step (or NExT step?), but the T5 chip doesn’t do power harvesting so the LF LED stuff would probably take up a lot of space.
I vaguely remember DT trying something like that a few years ago. It’s probably possible but IIRC trying to get manufacturers to actually make it correctly was a huge pain in the ass.
The xMagic in my mind is kind of “the original successor” to the NExT.
Maybe other people would be interested in these sorts of combos, granted likely not to the extent of the xMagic.
A DESFire EV2/3 4/8kb model would be a nice upgrade to the NTAG 216 from a capacity standpoint, but it is my understanding that these are hard to consistently get ahold of, so price would likely be pretty steep.
I will say, that there is one IC that would be absolutely INSANE to pair with a T5577. If you are in the DT Club, you’ll probably know what I’m talking about.
