Do we know what is required in order for this to take place? I couldn’t find this, though I’m sure it says somewhere.

For example:

Could my Pixel8 just update and suddenly have more range with my NExT?

Would I have to upgrade to the Pixel (ie) 10, But still get more range with the NTAG-216 in my NExT? (This is what I assume.)

Or does both the chip and reader need to be new?

i am assuming just the reader will be updated.

I don’t think so. Better range comes from differently capable hardware. In short, it appears that readers and transponders will be designed for higher field power output from readers to achieve better ranges. With backward compatibility in mind though, my bet is that everything will start out with basic field power, then somehow enable higher field output via “upgrade signaling” between R15 compliant devices.
