NFC Range extender

And here it is

Remember the caveat

Arrived a few of days ago, happy with that

As some people may be aware, I carry a T5577 card in my phone case
Seperately, I also made a Range extender and carried that inside my case

But that was too much crap in my phone case, So my idea was to get a 2in1 Card

Identify the location of the chips and antennas

( In my experience, HF Coils tend to run the premiter in a retangular fashion, and LF Circular and central )

Next, Fill a glass vial with acetone, and make a hotglue seal around the neck over the HF chip, flip upside down to soak the plastic in the targetted location.
Place the contraption on a galss platform ( so the acetone doesn’t eat through the surface it is sitting on )

Let soak for a couple of hours

Let soak a couple more

Check the underside for signs of it losing the battle

Peel away the hot glue and peel off the soft melted plastic from the card.

I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A PHOTO OF THE CHIP BEFORE I REMOVED IT

Oh well :man_shrugging:

Desolder the chip and replace with a 22pf capicator
Why 22pf

Strip wire enamel with soldering iron, and Solder said capicitor to the antenna wire

Fill the void with hot glue

Test
Phone (Samsung S21+)
Reading a full sized DF2 card
Without Extender= 35mm
With Extender = 42mm

Was it worth it? Probably not, But It may help some people if your phone is struggling to read your implant.

Im sure somebody will ask.

Range on implants?!

Difficult to measure accurately, but heres my best approximation (and though phone case)

NExT
Without Extender= Contact
With Extender = ~5-6mm

FlexM1 gen2
Without Extender= 5mm
With Extender = ~-10mm

In reality, the range is irrelevant as I just always touch my phone to my implants, BUT, they are noticibly easier to read

Nice. Did something similar at Resonant Repeater Stickers - #101 by StarGate01 , works great.

This really doesn’t look too hard to do.
Gonna order some Acetone.
