PM3 HF Orientation?

Hi all \o

I’m pretty new to this, implants, PM3, HF/LF…so, sorry in advance. (and sorry for any spelling errors, Norwegian here!)

A week ago I got my two implants, xMagic and xDF3, one in each hand, and I just got my PM3, and I’m running into “issues” :stuck_out_tongue:

The implants are healing just fine, and I know that to get a reliable read, I need to wait a week or two more. BUT!
Where I’m having issues is with the xMagic, I can read and write it with my phone with no problem what so ever, and my Flipper Zero can read and write no problem…

But with the PM3, I’m not able to get a HF Read at all with the xMagic.

When I use the Field Detector Keychain that comes with the xMagic, it does not light up at all. It does light up on the flipper and on my phone tho. And I can read the HF-tags that came with the PM3.

It just seems a bit…wonky?

Welcome!

X-series can be pretty picky, especially as you already said within the first few weeks of installation, unfortunately part of it comes down to just learning the correct position

But, there are some things you can do to make it easier on yourself

If you don’t already have one, a booster board is basically magic, and should help a lot

The usual orientation that works is to have the chip perpendicularly crossing the relevant antenna, there’s some picture examples in this post:

That’s a good place to start, but you’ll likely need to do a little fine tuning. To help you with that, you may try:
hf tune
And / or
hf 14a reader -@

These commands give you continuous feedback to help you find the “sweet spot”, with the former you look for the lowest voltage values, and with the second you look for the most consistent reads

Would you look at that…located the signal with the XFD on the underside of the PM3, and it read my tag almost instant.

I’ll look into the booster board for sure, apparently I’m missing that

Thanks a lot!
