Is there a guide to writing code for the xDF2? I’d like to write some custom applications when I get mine, but I’ve never written code for an NFC device. I’m a programmer by trade and have some embedded experience from some other hobby projects so I can probably pick up what I need pretty easily.

Not really beyond the spec sheet on the product page. All nfc tags work by sending commands and getting back data (when relevant). The spec sheet details these commands and what they do.
