I’m hoping someone can help me troubleshoot an issue with my FlexUG4. It’s not responding to the reader on this printer.
I tested it using the ultimate test card that came with my order, and it responds correctly. However, a smaller field detector doesn’t light up at all, while a standard card-sized field detector works as expected.
Has anyone experienced something similar or found a solution? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
i would do this - put the small disc on the reader, then hover the full size RDC over and get closer and closer until the RDC starts to light up. does the small disc light up also?
No, the small disc doesn’t light up at all, which I find strange. At first, I thought it might be an issue with the detector, but it does light up when exposed to HF signals from both a Flipper Zero and my phone.
One thing I did notice, though, is that the read range seems unusually large. I’m not sure what the typical read range should be, but I’m getting consistent reads from over 50 mm away.
ok so this might seem odd, but hold the small disc out in space away from the surface of the reader. start at like 1cm, then 2cm, etc. move it around a lot in the x/y axis at z-axis 1cm, then repeat at 2cm. some systems actually have a kind of “drop out” zone really close because the antennas were designed to sort of extend the field bubble (shaped like a doughnut) further out in space but this leaves a kind of dead zone up close, which is usually fine if they designed their systems to work with full size cards, which have x/y dimensions large enough to put the entire perimeter well into the doughnut shaped field, but leaves your smaller stuff kind of dead. that’s one reason the rdc might work well right up against the reader but the small disc does not.
The other thing to try to to move the disc waaay off to the sizes.. like think about the center of the reader indicated by the sticker or icon of whatever to be the center of the dead zone, and the actual antenna diameter is much much larger. go out to the edges while z axis = 0 to see if you can find the edge of the antenna field.
