I actually saw this yesterday and it’s making me wonder if enabling the chat feature on the forum is a good idea.. just as an alternative.

The only downside to chat based communication is it’s not well indexed, not easily searchable, and can be prone to spicier tit for tat than forum discourse tends to be. That said;

• let’s try the chat feature out
• I’m ok without chat features

I wish I used Discord so that I could quit using Discord in protest.

But it’s already too much of a pain to pass the capchas each time I log in, and then to navigate with their derpy half baked keyboard shortcuts that clash with real keyboard shortcuts.

I like the forum format over the chat format because I take at least three days to process how to respond and another three days to realise that my last response made no sense. (IRL my conversations typically consist of silently contemplating things I could’ve said to the person who’s now walking away because I couldn’t think of anything to say.)
