Tad of a random thread, but in the same vein that getting a magnet implant allotted me a new sensation, a freshly shaven head permits an experience similar.
I’ve shaven my head down to skin a few times, from both relatively short and shoulder-length growths. Among the many benefits, the most fascinating is the heightened ability to feel air moving past my scalp. I’m not sure if this is only a temporary heightened stimulation due to no longer having any hair where there once was lots, as I’ve never been bald long enough to test.
The best effect comes in the days just after a fresh shave, when the stubble is extremely short. Walking through a doorway, I can distinctly feel the subtle vortices and currents swirling around me.
When I shaved my head most recently, I realised how similar of an experience it is to gaining a sense from an implant, so I suppose if you ever want to explain to someone what it is like to gain a new sensation, shave their head.
I also once had a teacher who solemnly claimed he could forecast the weather thanks to his bald head, though I have my doubts.
The one thing i liked about having a shaved head was that it was easier to control my body temperature. Hats are waaaay more effective at retaining heat and bare skin cools faster, in my experience.
