I also have a bunch of rfid projects in varies waves of complexity. Starting with a rfid/nfc finder (if uid present beep) basic acsess controler. (If correct uid do this) up to nfc enabled rotational motors… feel free to piggy back on any of these. And hit me up if you get stuck or need any help. I can be found floating around here or on the unofficial discord.

I reckon just introduce dad to this site and we will convince him to cyborg up first. Great father-son bonding moment.

My kids love it and their friends are all super impressed when they unlock our house using their hands.

Dear dad

I hope this letter finds you well. I understand that you have concerns about RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, particularly when it comes to your child’s safety and well-being. As someone familiar with this technology, I want to offer you the opportunity to explore it firsthand and address any questions or reservations you may have.

RFID implants are small, passive devices that store and transmit information using radio waves. They do not have GPS tracking, batteries, or active transmission capabilities. Instead, they work only when in close proximity to a compatible reader, much like the contactless payment cards we use every day. Many individuals choose to get RFID implants for convenience, security, and even medical purposes.

I understand that, as a parent, you want to ensure your child’s safety, privacy, and long-term well-being. That’s why I’d love to invite you to learn more about the technology—how it works, what it can and cannot do, and the potential benefits and risks. I am happy to provide demonstrations, discuss security measures, and answer any questions you may have.

Ultimately, this is a personal choice for both you and your child. My goal is not to pressure, but to provide accurate information so you can make an informed decision together. If you’d be open to a discussion, I’d be glad to arrange a time to talk or even demonstrate the technology.

Please feel free to reach out if you’d like to explore this further. I look forward to easing your concerns and providing clarity on this fascinating technology.

Best regards,
All of us here.

Thanks for the great message, I really appreciate it! My dad is very experienced in this field and has been working with computers and tech for most of his life, so he immediately understood why i wanted it, but just thought i wouldnt be able to use it enough and get enough value out if it. I agree with his point, as i can occasionally get overexcited and rush into things.

@Pilgrimsmaster 's point about creating a school project with it is a great idea, especially as no one knows about the implants where i am! But, could be a bit hard as my school hasnt embraced RFID yet.

I think before doing any big steps, I should experiment with simple things like the RC522 or other easy modules, and if it still interests me I’ll get a NExT with proxmark3 (as i cant afford a xMagic with proxmark3), and if that proves to be useful and good for me, ill save up for an xMagic in the other hand.
Sorry if the grammar or spelling is bad, i wrote this on phone!

14 here, thanks for making this post so I could get even more information about this from the comments, at least you have an opportunity to get it while my parents wouldn’t let me until I was 18 and there’s no professionals in the entire country here (I’m from southeastern Serbia)

Get a ring. Adopt it into your life style. If it becomes something you use daily/weekly. Take the plunge. If not save your pennys. And prepare your self for the eventualities of losing keys and cards for the rest of your life.
