Sketchy Install Log: NeXtV2 + Glow powder

So I ordered a nextv2, xg3, and a couple packets of glow powder when they were released. Sat on the implants for a bit because I just never had time to install. . Glow powder came out and I wanted to find a way to incorporate it with the install.

Defcon happened to be the best option since @Equipter was going to be there and I had items to deliver to him anyways. I reached out ahead of time to give him an idea of my plan. Pre-install we fill the injector with glow powder pre-install. This way the led will power the Glowpowder when scanned. After install we pack the wound with glow powder and then seal her up good.

Install was quick and painless. Equip with an audience in the cuck chair. I had to give him some encouragement as he seemed more nervous than I. Once the needle came out, we messaged the are you open the wound and dump more powder in.

We’re one day after install. Little swelling but no signs of rejection. I removed the bandage. Cleaned the area with ipa and applied newskin. So far so good.

Also during the time I got the xg3 in R0 with no issues and it was uneventful.

Going on day two post install.

Swelling is down. Glow powder is glowing.

This is charging it up with the DT branded uv flashlight.

Pretty happy with the results but I’m not sure it’s going to maintain this brightness as it finds it’s forever home.

The idea is that when the implant is scanned the bright light from the nextV2 will charge the glow powder enough to let it appear to keep glowing.
And so far. That is correct. it does get charged up by the next and it does continue glowing. I’ll try my best to continue to update ya.

What color next v2 you get?

Green, matched with the green glow powder

Totally forgot to keep updating this.

Mostly healed but injection site is tender. No heat, discharge, or otherwise abnormal healing. The areas where there is glow powder is slightly denser.

Almost at the 30 day mark.

So far the glow powder install method is about 3 weeks behind healing on the xg3 that was installed minutes apart.

Almost completely healed. Glow is from 10 seconds with my phone flashlight.

I’m assuming that some powder is contained the encapsulation of the implant, and the needle wound just works like a normal glow scarification.

Those are some good results! How noticeable is it when you’re not actively charging it?

If it hasn’t been charged it’s completely unnoticeable.

And yeah that was the entire intent. I actually hope that I can charge the glow powder with just the led of the implant. Won’t know for certain if that’s possible for maybe another week

Without knowing what bands of the light spectrum the LEDs give off, I obviously cannot say for sure what would have been ideal, but:

I am guessing white or maybe blue would have better luck at charging the powder over green. My high school science memory suggests white due to it being a mix of a good chunk of the visible spectrum, and blue is an inherently closer frequency to UV than green.. Maybe if this doesn’t charge it when healing is done, the other versions of the NExT2 might?

Well I confirmed last night that with just the led alone it will charge up the glow powder. I’m assuming it will get better still because there still seems to be some swelling.

And I think you’re right about blue being closer to the spectrum but I also remember that blue was an incredibly difficult led color to get.

They also have a higher forward voltage threshold to start lighting up.

..and they draw more current generally so we have to add a current limiting resistor which impacts light output.
