Sniffing household FOBs

I need to learn sniffing. I have Icopy xs and it can’t read certain fobs and asks for sniffing. Can anyone guide me please.

there is not enough information here.

have you searched on both HF and LF for the fobs.

sniffing is only applicable when interfacing with the reader which would at the very least require you to know the frequency and/or protocol being used to effectively sniff with a reason.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen both LF and HF fobs requiring Icopy Xs to sniff, so I thought it is required to find the codes / passwords to complete the duplication. So basically I am trying to complete the duplication process of those fobs.

Can you provide the make/model of the reader?

A photo of the reader and fob/card would help.

Do you have any diagnostic tools, such as the xFD or Diagnostic card?

Can you try scanning your fob with TagInfo?
whether this works or not, it narrows down an answer.

Your thread title is “household fobs”, so if you own the lock, this also makes things easier.
It is easier to enroll than copy*

Sniffing is generally used when you don’t own the lock, like a hotel for example.
It uses a tool such as the iCopy, like a “man in the middle” between

READER - iCopy - AUTHORISED CARD

*there are exceptions

Thanks for detailed message. I am working in a key cutting shop and have to duplicate fobs also.
So I don’t have readers for the fob which people bring for duplication.
Icopy xs asks for sniffing or else it can’t duplicate the fob.
So I just want to be able to duplicate those fobs.
