Tell me more about this "chinese magic backdoor feature"

I’ve just had an xm1+ installed, and I’ve got the adafruit pn532 in an arduino. I’ve got an example sketch for ndef formatting working on a fob. With the freedom to rewrite the uid is it possible to brick it the chip, or am I free to frolic?

If you don’t lock it or anything you are free to change the UID.

It is possible to brick, but that is rare and can usually be unbricked.

EDIT: You will need to use a special command to change the UID.

Xm1 are gen1 and so need the “magic command” to change uid this also means if it is bricked by conventional means you can 99% of the time recover by using the “magic command”

Thanks for the info! I’m definitely going to pick up a pack to play around with first, because it seems like there’s much I need to learn first.
