The antiđŸš«-derailment🚃 & threadđŸ§” hijackingđŸ”« threadđŸ§” ⁉

I don’t quite understand this obsession they have with hand chopping. In the scenario they’re imagining Mr. Bad Guy sees me use my hand at a terminal. He then walks up and chops off my hand in order to make many sub $100 purchases without a pin until I cancel the card and continues on his way past the ocean of women wearing $5K diamonds on their hand because that’s not worth it. :man_shrugging:

In fairness, The mark of the beast IS TRUE
This is me using my “mark of the beast” to take over the world

My plan starts with donating money to Surf Life Saving
Nobody will suspect them

I once scraped all the comments from a similar video and ran an analysis on them. Over 85% of the comments included the word “beast” :stuck_out_tongue:
But I am thankful, because the crazies really fascinated me (you know, morbid curiosity - how do so many people have the same affliction), and through that I stumbled on the Mindreading thread here - and the rest is history

The thing with such imagined violent scenarios is, it’s pure imagination.

Firstly, anybody who’s ever tried to chop some bony meat with a sharp cleaver on a wooden board knows it’s far from easy even in the best circumstances.

Secondly, I’ve known a guy a long time ago who had knifed someone when he was young. He told me he still deals with the psychological trauma of feeling the blade slide inside someone’s flesh decades later.

Nobody will come to the ATM and chop your hand off, unless they’re super-strong, they have a super-sharp katana, and they’re and total psychopath high on meth.

There is another name for that affliction

( It has a bunch of different flavours, but it is really just the same thing )

It’s just mesmerising isn’t it, to go into the comments and see thousands upon thousands of people expressing the same thing, wrapped in either christian or conspiratorial language.
Also makes me deeply uncomfortable, but that’s another thing.

I think by and large, it’s still more positive than negative - just barely. I’m just afraid that the man will accelerate the erosion of digital freedoms even more and take away the internet of my childhood.

Not sure what kind of internet you had in your childhood, but the internet of my 20’s is long gone, sadly.

And also know you have a chip in your hand, and which hand, and you do nothing while this is happening.

Not to mention, if you’re in the mood to be that violent, the best way to rob someone at the ATM is to wait for them to punch their PIN and pick up the cash

I think their point is, if this gets normal like cellphones did, this could happen.
I’m more afraid of them cutting it out the normal way (knock me out, press cut pop, chip out).

But then, I also just hope that we fixed all the big problems like poverty and whatever else leads to people fricking robbing others by the time everyone has a chip.

You would have it deactivated or locked before anyone could use it.

Cell phone theft, not so much of problem these days because the thief can’t use them if they are locked and most nowadays have tracking beacons in them.

Same with newer model cars (the 4g embedded ones anyway) They rarely stay stolen long.

Maybe the logic is: if they remove your hand or hands, you can’t call and lock your card?

I only like this video because it recommended me SparkFun’s video which then brought me here

Also if you scroll down a little bit you can see my comment from 3 years ago where I mentioned how it wasn’t the mark of the beast

+1 for being an LPL fan!

LPL rocks. Also, he’s one of the few Youtubers who manages to monetize his Youtube hobby with his newly-created online store and not be all in-your-face about it in his videos. He does plug his store every once in a while, but he’s not pushy and it’s fair enough.

Fwiw his covert companion is a pretty sweet tool

I’m trying to come up with a decent way to also have 5-10 turning tools also in a small discrete package

Feel like the idea is on the top of my tounge but just can’t materialize it
