What you think that wrapping a moving object in glass might cause issues with the glass?
Say it aināt so.
I think the concept is to have something that causes a sensation without it requiring any obvious external parts.
Why you need a vibration to stimulate nerves from inside the body I am not sure. I would have thought that something that could directly (or indirectly) stimulate the nerves without movement would be even more elegant.
However I suspect that having such a device implantable by anything less than a surgeon might be harder.
Yes, this has become ācan I implant a shock collarāā¦
Not really.
Electric nerve stimulation is on the radar of DT as far as I remember.
Moving parts in glass: xG3, particularly the 2nd version!
So far we havenāt successfully unfolded the possibility of piezos and micro motors, in whatever form.
In fact a micro motor could be encapsulated in titanium with a tungsten carbide bearing to make it last as long as it lasts. It might be okay, it might be disposable, such as the payment chip, yet I think it worth a constructive discussion.
What is next with it? if anythingā¦
any touchups? any additions to that piece? any expansions ie. the same theme to another area?
What are your favourite bits?
Are there any bits you donāt like quite as much?
Given the opportunity to do it again, Is there anything you would do differently?
I bet it feels amazing, from both sides of the scar,
Thatās some real fine detail in the center piece. I wasnāt expecting that to hold / show. Nice.
Regarding spinning magnets and feedback:
Pretty sure Amalās said the magnet rotates WITH the glass attached. It spins in your flesh pocket.
Rando thoughtā¦
Could you make one with a significant imbalance so that when it rotates, it vibrates? V3?
Note, youād have to get that sucker really spinning to feel it.
The shape might impede rotation. Especially if you just want a little out of it.
If the magnetic core were made in a Oval shape inside of a round tube, then one side could be filled with a light epoxy, and the other side with a heavy slug.
That turned out really nice. But I canāt help noticing some lines seem to have scarred up a lot more than others. Like the bottom two bits seem really thick, while the center drawing didnāt quite come out as much. Is it normal? Or is it a camera artifact?
It must be really freaky to run your fingers on it. Well, maybe not your fingers - you must be used to it - but someone elseās
Re the discord vs forum thing, itās really disturbing that several conversations go on in different venues and jump from one to the other willy-nilly for those who choose not to patronize one of them. It feels like trying to have a chat in roomfull of people who are all on the phone at the same time.
It was done by Arnulf at Stigmata Inc Cologne, he also created the design as well (since Iām really bad at drawing stuff ). Very happy with him, heās a great and experienced artist and a cool guy as well!
Thank you!
Thatās a difficult one⦠I plan on adding more scars of the same theme to my arms (outer side, so kinda āoppositeā to my tattoos and the glowy) and maaaaybe legs as well. Problem is, Arnulf is a bit concerned about the way my body scars, and he is not sure if there can be anything like an even result. So heās a bit hesitant, currently, but weāre talking it through.
I especially love the design in the middle, it scarred pretty even and has a nice three-dimensional look (the design itself, not only the scars ). Iām a tiny bit sad that some parts of the scarification (the lines that are closest to my shoulders) remained flat, but maybe Arnulf can re-work them a bit, dunno - but still, thatās not a big thing.
Hmmm⦠I donāt think so. Iām really happy with it, and even the fact that it is a bit of uncertainty about how it will finally look adds to the āmagicā of it. Kinda like watching a polaroid develop
Iād say I would plan the timing well next time, so not in hot summer nor in cold winter (where I would add many layers of clothes above it), but letās be honest - if I can get my next scars done, Iāll do it, no matter what the weather says
Me neither, since those were the most shallow cuts of the whole piece - but it still gained a nice 3D-effect
Yeaaaah⦠thatās the thing that keeps my artist concerned. People scar differently, and even on the same person, different areas of skin react differently. So some variance in scarring is normal on bigger scarifications, but Iām definitely on the ābit more extremeā side of that spectrum. The fact that the center is a bit more subtle was planned that way, like I said he made the cuts a bit more shallow there. But the other lines vary quite a bit as well, and it didnāt necessarily had to do with the depth of the cuts. Maybe movement of the skin or amount of tissue had some impact, no idea.
I feels wonderful
I love the 3D-effect of it, and the skin has a different sensitivity (hard to describe - not so much āmoreā or ālessā, just different), so it feels very interesting.
Having sliced part way through one of my fingertips before I know exactly what you mean. I got used to the sensation fairly quickly but it felt really odd as though my body was registering touch in different places than was actually happening, this was a while after the flesh had healed.
