And that’s what I doubt, because why would a card melt then? And even if that doesn’t melt it, is the polymer still intact after that? Does it outgas then? Does it maybe create a mini explosion?

I think it’s rather dumb just to assume it’ll be fine, but maybe it’s dumb to assume anything will happen… I don’t know anything about that, so my fear might be totally unrealistic.

You all seem confident, that calms me, but still.
I hoped there were definitive proofs for these things.

Yes nice!!

In a microwave, because of eddy currents. They work on any old bit of metal, whether it’s a coil or an open circuit. So basically when you stick an NFC card in a microwave, it’s instantly killed, then the eddy currents continue heating up the metal bits inside until enough heat creates the melting and smoking and outgassing.

I believe this will happen whether it’s in water or not to be honest

Indeed, don’t take my word for it: try it yourself

I just don’t want to kill my microwave  my wife might kill me.

Show her this. She’ll understand:

Semi weird question,

Has anyone managed to split a kbr to multiple computers?

Not a usb switch, one scan and it types on 2 computers

My lizard brain is wondering if you just split the data lines analog style… straight up rca splitter logic lol

I’m sure there’s probably some kind of usb sanity check or something that would mess this up…

Finally setting up my computer area, and as much as I love my wave nano, I’m not buying 2 of those

I think the idea of a single kbr on the bottom of the desk could be slick… even more so with a usb hub underneath also, so only one cord going to the computer

Not possible: USB keyboards are enumerated by the host and they report the keys upon request (i.e. the host keeps polling them actively).

Maybe with a PS/2 keyboard and 2 PS/2 to USB adapters.

Sounds like the perfect way to leak your ID on the PC you didn’t want to login to.

I guess…

Why can’t things be easy?

… well I can just buy a second kbr…

Why can’t things be easy AND cheap lol

An easy way would probably be, plug your Wave Nano into a KVM switch.
Select computer on KVM
Swipe Wave Nano
You are logged in

:man_shrugging:

I use a two host USB switch. It has four ports on the front, two on the back, and a button and 2 lights on top.

I have my keyboard/trackpad hooked up and my prototype keyboard wedge.

One port sometimes has my yubikey in it and the fourth port is spare…

I would suggest a similar set up.

This is the switch I use Xqjtech USB 3.0 Switch KVM Switch…

The only person I am aware of with an NFCKill is @freqyXin and I assume @KaiCastledine has / access to one…of course there is likely others.

@AbbottSmith am I correct in thinking you fried :fire: :cloud: a chip within a card :credit_card: with a modified coil?

I remember at least 2 people in the video, maybe a hackerspace :man_shrugging: and I can picture the coil ( Copper wound tube, Copper windings, heat sinks and a VA meter with a Blue screen )

The usb switch might be a better option

… but 2x kbr readers might the faster and sexier option lol :joy:

Also damn, I thought they were like 20$, 40$ is a harder decision to buy something for a technically inferior solution

Nope not me, I have not tried to fry any chips. I did turn on a LF detector with an induction heater, maybe this is what you were thinking of?

Yeah, that was it…

I thought the rig was similar…oh well

I tried it,

The only thing that happened was the water got warm.

The microwaves will penetrate the plastic card UNLESS it’s in water.

It didn’t even mess up the antenna, blue cloner still reads it as a valid t5577.

Rosco, I should’ve never doubted you.

I think my wave ID nano can let me use more than just my UID… I’m just going cross eyed trying to understand it

their user manual… on the off chance anyone smarter than me wants to take a peek… .
… not specifically for my benefit… but maybe it can benefit the group if someone ( smarter ) can make heads or tails of it all

page 60 is where things look interesting… but again… cross eyed and dumb

I can try to call them tomorrow but it’s a crap shoot if I get a correct answer and not just the brush off by a phone clerk
