Radar Jammers work differently I thought. Rather than make it return zero it returns wildly inaccurate results. Something about rather than absorbing the ray Jammers actually emit the pulses in a succession to throw the internal accuracy check of the equipment off

Yes exactly they emit interference signals. Consider what the jammer is trying to do… the speed measurement device emits a pulse signal and waits for the return and calculates time of flight between multiple pulses to determine speed. If the speed measurement device is receiving return signals the very instant it emits a pulse then the measurement performed over several pulses will be zero because the rate of change is zero between each measurement attempt.

There might be some cheaper Jammers out there that do not emit pulses fast enough and there may be a chance that the speed measurement device gets enough of a randomized delay between measurement attempts that it will be able to calculate some sort of speed but modern jammers generally work well enough that the speed measurement device cannot determine any significant change between measurement attempts and therefore registers a zero speed.

@amal maybe you should reach out to Medhi to see if he’d be interested in getting a XG3

Well that and he has a whole life and family so his time is already divided.

rant warning

Gotta love corporate, and their lazy-assed ā€œOh, we’ll get that done laterā€ BS…

Started out here in Aspen last Sep, we were supposed to get season ski passes (like $2500+ worth) as a bonus. Never happened. Finally in April (almost at the end of the season), they said they’d just give us bonus on ā€œnext paycheckā€ which would have been around $1200. That hasn’t happened yet. Havn’t gotten end of season safety bonus yet either. Got promotion back on June 1st, havn’t gotten my $2/hr raise for that yet.

Our season readiness date is Sep 1st, and we’re supposed to have all our equipment etc ready to go 30 days prior. 1 of our 3 trucks doesn’t work. All 3 still have annual PMs etc that have to get done. We just sent out fluid samples the other day, that takes a week or more to come back.

And today, got pulled over in company vehicle, Registration is 2 years out of date, tags expired Oct of 2023.

Still waiting on word to know if we are even getting the contract for next season. Company paid housing (which is up at end of Aug), but they havn’t renewed that lease yet either, because waiting on work contract first.

Multi-billion $$ company and they can’t get their shit together.

That’s a lot of red flags there… when a company starts acting bankrupt, it usually means they are, for one reason or another. I had a client for 8 years pay on time every time and then all of a sudden payments were late and assurances were plentiful. Because of their history I let things accrue for months until I finally just had a straight discussion with the owner. The owner swore up and down I had been paid, they’re accountant assured them that I had been paid properly. Turns out the accountant embezzled tons of money and skipped town, leaving my client totally bankrupt. They lost their business and everyone got screwed.

Ewww, that sucks…

My case is a bit different, they have the $$, they just don’t want to pay it out

This is a small start-up station (last year was first year here in Aspen) of a world-wide company, and they apparently ā€œprioritize larger stations firstā€.

shrugs If they cancel us here, I have 4 other large stations that want me because Experience.

While we are ranting
I do quality inspection stuffs… and I’m also a customer of our products both before and currently

My patience is about run out

I said the quiet part out loud to my boss other day before I could stop myself

Boss: yea we are starting to see XYZ cosmetic issue regularly… we are going to come up with standard of what’s acceptable

EQ: can we come up with a standard about not deviating from our standards? Maybe then it will matter

A newer product that has some cosmetic aspects that they have been super lax about, and I’ve been vocal that customers will flip if they get xyz

Well some other inspector failed a part for the same, and was over ridden because ā€œthe customer won’t careā€

Surprise surprise, the customer cared a lot… and posted a lot about it on forums… and almost immediately there’s a new standard and push to correct this issue…

…that I’ve been bringing up for months

So I’m left wondering… maybe it’s actually the most constructive thing to intentionally send some bad parts since they don’t listen to me, only irate customers

there is a term for that. I cannot remember it but its something like intentionally releasing known bad issues to hide arger ones. there is also a term for introducing small bugs to squash to appear busy. i cant seem to find these anywhere.

Oh I meant,
ME intentionally sending a few choice bad parts, since they don’t listen to me… but they will listen to irate customers

If you’d jump on the bandwagon (with Gusto!) when they want to do stupid stuff, you could call it Malicious Compliance.

I need to use gusto more professionally.

My favorite thing that I’ve been throwing back in their face… which I’d love to call malicious compliance…. But really it’s just targeted sarcasm

Lately there’s been a slew of defects relating to illumination settings, they look worse at higher settings…

Higher ups have decided defects are ok so long as they are only visable at the upper illumination settings

My usual reply is, cool so are you going to tell the customer they can’t use that setting? Or are they just supposed to not be mad because its only visable at power 6 and up , you know because 90% are just going to crank it to max power and never touch it…

That’s my usual sarcasm

Me upping is is when someone inquires wether a blemish on something completely unrelated to illumination

Random: ā€œ hey is this ding on the outside big enough to be concerning, or just character?ā€

Eq: ā€œidk what illumination setting is it on?ā€

Random: ā€œā€¦ā€¦ what?.. ā€œ
