God damn I never knew genital piercings made me flinch so much
For me it’s like this: as long as it’s (mostly) reversable without heavy surgery, I’m fine with it.
But no nonstandard places please for the love of god (I’m surprised I haven’t seen any orbital/eyelid implants yet… has anyone done this?)

Does tounge count? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
I had one some years ago, but it was only in the way, so I took it out after 6-8 months

Okay, this is impressive, but also a little disturbing
I think I draw my line a bit before cutting open my eyes for cosmetic reasonsšŸ¤”

It’s crypto, but symmetric, it puts keys in vivokeys hands.
In a way that’s even worse than using a chips ID for security. Now my secret lies on some server.
IMO its likelier that vivokey gets hacked than that someone reads my hand.

An apex could theoretically identify me without VK keeping my secret. My apex could sign a challange with a private key that never leaves the chip. That’s some security. You could hack VK but not solve login challanges in my name.
But if I also have a spark, I lower my vivokey acc security to that level (secrets on a server).

Huh? That’s strange - tongue was actually my first piercing ever, and after I got the short bar in I barely recognize it. Still love it sooo much (and have a lot of sentimental feelings about it, because, first piercing and that) that it effectively keeps me from getting my tongue split

Hehe, define ā€œstandardā€ here^^ Genital piercings might be, considering their history, very standard - they’ve existed since a very long time, so they’re maybe more ā€œstandardā€ than a bellybutton piercing (which I consider a bad idea in most cases, anyway^^). For me personally, I think my two Daith piercings feel the most ā€œnonstandardā€, the placement is interesting (it feels like getting pierced on the ā€œinsideā€ of the ear, in a way) and they are, at least in Germany, still not that usual.
And I like to combine piercings or use unusual jewelry to make them look different…

The tunnel is fresh in the lower pic, so still very work in progress!

Maybe common would be a better word? ^^
It is quite difficult to gauge the prevelence of genital piercings tho
I found an infographic that states that genital piercings make up 2% and 3% of all piercings in women and men respectively (it is a infographic tho, with no stated sources, so it could very well be trash).
Well I would consider ears (helix/cartilage, conch, rook, etc.), lips, tongue, nose, nipples, navel, eyebrow etc. - I would consider these ā€˜mainstream’ (maybe even better?) - but that is purely empirical, from what I’ve seen - and anecdotal evidence is usually worthless anyway

Hmmmm, those statistics are difficult usually.
If you count the single earlobe piercing into this (which pretty much every woman has - not me, funny enough^^), it might be fitting, but I would think the numbers are pretty low. I know of several people who have only genital piercings - they look perfectly ā€œnormalā€, rather conservative to the casual observer, and yet they have more piercings below the waist than I have above it^^
And I think there are lots of differences between different countries, too - for example, in Germany, I rarely see pierced eyebrows. Was a thing in the 90s, but today, I see faint eyebrow-scars from time to time (so, there have been piercings^^), but almost no piercings. Same with bridge piercings - okay, many piercers don’t do them anymore, but I also rarely see them ā€œon the streetsā€.

But honestly, it’s rather difficult to get ā€œunusualā€ piercings nowadays - except from plain dangerous stuff like eyelid piercing or snake eyes… So I just get what I like (and what my piercer likes to do, as well^^), guess I’m already marked as a freak by other things

God the idea of snake eyes make me quake.
You would think someone would know basic biology before getting it, Locking two muscles together like that just can’t end well

Same here - additionally, these things will definitely destroy your teeth. Maybe a dentist invented them and insidiously put some pictures up at bmezine.com, who knows…

@Coma I think it’s probably safe to say you’re the most diversely modified person in the community

I’m not so sure about that, but - thanks a lot

Definitely had that problem a few times

I will say that since mine is still relatively fresh, I have an oversized bar in, so it can make…ahem… certain things difficult. I usually take it out for those things; it might get easier when I switch to a shorter bar, but that’s where I’m at nowadays. For activities involving others, it’s definitely a good idea to lube liberally. The start is definitely the hardest part lol

Despite the captive bead ā€œdisappearingā€ sometimes, I don’t recommend a continuous ring for the PA, it can really irritate things which is a pity, they look so nice! Don’t know if you and @Sijaka know the upside-down trick to peeing, but if you find the flow follows the ring and drips ~ twist your appendage so the PA is facing upwards. Helps to minimize mess

Actually, I used that trick all the time when I had my PA! With my apa, I usually just find it easiest to sit at this point. It might become a little easier when I switch to the shorter bar, but with how much the bar sticks out as of right now, it’s just too much of a hassle/mess trying to stand

And yeah, I definitely always used a captive bead. My piercer told me the same thing.

Forum question: isn’t Discourse supposed to offer an Ignore option to ignore users? I only see Normal and Muted:

On other Discourse forums, I have this:
