Obligatory disclaimer: massive space nerd, not a tankie. Haven’t watched the video, very lightly skimmed the comments.

With compatible receivers, sure. This is kinda a nonissue tbh, the vast majority of devices are receive-only. And there’s nothing really stopping any other country from implementing the same thing other than the increased power requirements and technical complexity

If you wanna (rightfully) shit on the Chinese space program:

  • The lack of coordination with the international community (so far G60 has been pretty spotty re: providing collision avoidance data to other providers / nations) is likely to cause problems in the coming years.

  • CZ-6A upper stages keep exploding in LEO, creating a massive debris/Kessler risk

  • Dropping spent ergol stages on villages… I don’t think I need to comment on that one. This is only a problem on the old generation of DF-5 based launchers (CZ-2/CZ-3)from their inland sites; they’re attempting to limit the damage from that, I believe most of them are using parachutes on their boosters, not for recovery/reuse but just to try to reduce the hazard areas, and they supposedly do reimburse residents for damages (and there are reports of the metal being used by rural communities, so at least it doesn’t go to waste…?), but yeah definitely not something that should happen at all.

Something I saw in the comments… This video is pretty old so I’ll give it a pass but CZ-5B does not do uncontrolled reentries anymore with its core stage, they use a yuanzheng upper stage and keep the core suborbital so it comes down immediately in a predictable location (ocean)

We’re talking about a country with reeducation camps… That added factories and fenced rice fields to it’s reeducation camps… Where have I read about something like this but without the “education” part before?

Yes of course but this only remains true if different organizations and companies outright ban compatibility with the Chinese system. Phones receive signals from both GPS and Russian Glonass without my ability to differentiate or specify, and with the way things go, Chinese GPS two-way support would be baked into every GPS module and antenna system if not outright banned, leaving no choice to the consumer really.

WTF is that? They make the coconuts big on Bali???

The “cocoanuts” you typically see actually fall off the tree inside huge husks. The fuzz gets ripped off then the hard husk is removed with a spike thing in the ground…

What falls out of that is the relatively little coconut shell thing you see in the store.

And without a machete or the ground spike it’s a hell of a time to try to remove.
