@ODaily Yeah my bad, I’ve always got a crazy amount of stuff going on in the implant space. Right now I’m in Honduras with Symbiont Labs making crazy shit. I post most of my projects and updates on Discord because everything is fast and loose, and I come to the forum for milestone updates when it makes sense.
I really don’t think you’re missing much not paying for the subscription thing. Having kept an eye on the community for ~8 years there’s just huge ups and downs in community engagement. I guess I could do updates on my crazy life, but it would be kinda stream of consciousness which is why Discord is easier.
I like how frank you are in this post, and I get what you’re saying. I’ll be frank with you though. If you feel like you’re not involved with what’s happening, get involved my dude. There’s plenty of work to be done within the grinding community. Community/project management, technical design work, documentation, media/outreach, plenty of stuff. If you need ideas feel free to reach out (that applies to anybody). It just depends on your skillset and interests.
For what it’s worth I think the dt club should be limited to regular “behind the scenes” posts by DT. Like a patreon, in fact maybe just move the whole thing to Patreon?
Otherwise it feels like an elite part of the forum and I understand people feeling left out.
This conversation was already had here when the club started. Patreon has a lot of fees. Not just Amal but people looking to support DT all wanted as much of the money to go direct as possible.
I appreciate this idealized discussion, it’s valuable, but at a certain point when everything has been said and laid on the table, you gotta move on to bring practical. This is the best series of options agreed upon by everyone involved given the circumstances we find ourselves in. If you’re opposed to walled gardens or can’t afford to pay a subscription fee to DT but you still want to know if you’re missing anything, just make a public post asking about it, or go on the numerous other communication platforms grinders frequent.
No need to apologize, I’ve just missed that stick of truth way you have of helping out. I’ve learned and been exposed to crazy amounts of stuff just following along. Especially when everything goes sideways in a herding the cats kind of way.
Truer words were never spoken. (see, stick of truth) I’m not in a spot to right now, and I’ve also never had a better time to get involved, just… Life, ya know? Still, I’ve backburnered a few things, I really should dust at least one of them off.
