Transceive failed error

Hi

I’m new here

I got one of those xNt chips put in my hand

When I scan it with the dt app to set the password it gives error transcieve failed

I can’t write to it using any app gives error tag unwritable I got screen caps of the errors but they not very detailed

Please see below my out put from nxp taginfo

I emailed support from the dt diag app with a description but no response the guy who put it in my hand suggested it something wrong with the app and to try any other app

Anyone know wtf I did to break my brand new implant ???

Sorry I didn’t see but what model phone are you using?

Basically “Transceive failed” means the phone is being dragged across the implant rather tapped down on the implant. Finding the “sweet spot” is difficult with some phones, so people resort to dragging the phone around on their hand until it reads. This can work for quick memory reads, but the DNFC app does a lot of back and forth transactions with the tag that are probably not completing by the time the phone is dragged too far off the tag to the point it loses strong coupling.

I would get comfortable with where the sweet spot is on your phone, then get used to dropping the phone straight down on the implant to get a read. If you need help finding the sweet spot on your phone, try the HF version of the xLED.

I’m using ruggear rg730

When I place the phone on the implant it throws the transcieve error instantly so it doesn’t seem to be doing much back and forth

I’ll keep trying your suggestion

hmm ok. if there are any additional NFC applications on the phone, specifically payment applications (google wallet, android pay, etc.) then you might want to disable them for now. also turn off any “beam” functionality that might be interfering with NFC function.

These are my andriod nfc settings

I can’t seem to get it to write with the DT app or the nxp tag writer app

When I try format in nxp it gives error -is this still just the same problem of the phone not being on the right angle etc

Try turning off P2P mode… it seems to me if you are getting errors from every app when you try to write, it’s likely the phone. To be honest, I’ve never seen settings like this, particularly the “tag reading & writing” setting… but maybe I just don’t get out that often

oh, of course, I should also ask if you’ve been able to write data to other tags? particularly an ntag216 based tag?

Yeh you should get out more

These are default Android nfc settings I’d imagine all Android running same version would be identical

I’ve just installed “RFID tag finder app” I’ll let you know if I fix it

I can’t afford the fancy xled locator and I live in Australia so I’d wait weeks for that to arrive here

Also when is the beta of the fancy new vivo I feel the need now to join the beta testers

I can’t try any other dt chips but I’ll go get some other nfc phones to check against

This tag is NTAG216 and available through Amazon AU - https://www.amazon.com.au/Giantree-Control-NTAG216-Sticker-Android/dp/B078W6QTBC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1517912660&sr=8-1&keywords=ntag216 … you can test with it

Yeh I’ve tried with a motox xt1092 and the rug gear no good in either the nxp or dt app on any angle with clear taps at every oclock

I’ll go show my installer when he’s back in Sydney next month

I was just going over your support tool data you posted, and I don’t think this chip is an xNT. Who did your installation? Did you get it from them directly?

I got it from an installer in Sydney I’m sure it’s a legit xNt I’ll get him to contact you to confirm

Yeh I checked with the Sydney installer it’s legit here’s the paper that comes inside the package

i would check to ensure your phone can work with other NTAG216 based tags… check that amazon link I sent. Test that with your phone.

I’m going to get a USB writer do you have an official recommendation for this is there approved tested writer

This one is nxp based so I assume it’s going to be ok

It doesn’t need to support Linux but I want guidance this chipset works with this implant

https://www.mikroe.com/nfc-usb-dongle

I would use an ACR122U which has full libnfc support for Linux.

Also I have the RFID chip what’s your recommended USB writer chipset
