Tri-Band PVC Cards (LF HF UHF)

INTRODUCTION

Are you tired of carrying around a T5577 card, a Gen2 Magic card, and a UHF card?
Hammy came up with a solution to that problem thus the development of the Tri-Band PVC Cards by MidWest Gadgets.
For my purposes, some of you know I carry a set of cards with me, as seen here

It may not sound like much, but I can now remove a card and at the same time increase my tool capability.

This unit is a First of its Kind and a Midwest Gadgets Exclusive! It evolved to answer the need for a single, reliable testing platform that covers the entire common RFID spectrum combining LF, HF, and UHF into one standard form factor.

Like an xMagic, NExT etc The Tri-Band card is a significant upgrade over standard single-frequency implant /card

TESTING INCLUDING READ RANGES
I considered doing range tests, and can if people are interested, but as it is a card, the ranges are as good as it gets

For a expectations, look at the image in the TEARDOWN

SPECIFICATIONS

It is the exact same dimensions as a standard credit card
~ 86 Ă— 54 millimeters

LF Chip:
Genuine Atmel T5577 chip (Rewritable)

HF Chip:
HF chip: Gen1a magic Mifare classic 1k 4byte UID changeable based on a Gen4 GDM derivative, limited access to the configuration block and functionality of normal Gen4 GDMs, see RFID Research Group - Notes on magic cards for more information.

UHF Chip:
EPC Changeable Gen2 UHF

Material:
PVC

PROs
• MWG Exclusive - You won’t find this anywhere else

• Consolidates three cards into one

• Genuine T5577 for maximum LF compatibility

• Magic Gen2 for HF versatility

• EPC Changeable UHF for long-range testing

• Standard card size

• Superb range

CONs

There really aren’t any cons to this, These are a real stretch…

  • Not really an issue, but due to the close proximity antennas mean you have to be mindful of which reader you are presenting to if it’s a multi-class reader.

  • Having a pre-printed diagram of antenna locations would be nice, but certainly not necessary
    OR

  • the following are just suggestions
-The option of a transparent version of the card
-Maybe, for a fee, a custom print design offering :man_shrugging:
-A Gen4 version, would add cost to it, but would level this card up

TEARDOWN

"HACKS
Can be programmed with Proxmark3, Flipper Zero, M1 or any standard UHF reader/writer.

The functionality
LF/HF - Standard short-range proximity testing for doors and small readers.

UHF - Long-range gate and vehicle access testing, typically used for parking garage entrances.

ALSO
Because these are PVC, they are printable. (and they already have been) You can run these through a thermal card printer to create your own custom badges or “stealth” testing tools that look like standard ID cards.

PRICE
USD $25.00

SUMMARY:
The Tri-Band PVC Card is the evolution of a tool. The addition of the UHF chip adds a function to any RFID power user.

That’s some cool tech over there. it would be even better if it was gen4, but let’s not be too picky.
I wonder what is the usage of the uhf portion of the card?

I agree It is more niche than our HF and LF options, HOWEVER, UHF is out there, and this is now covered in this card.

Years ago, I stumbled on a UHF and HF card,

and I looked for ages for one that also had LF to cover my bases, but I never found one; because it simply didn’t exist, and now it does, THAT in and of itself is pretty awesome…

You are probably aware, but the “selling point” of UHF is RANGE.
Some examples are

  • Vehicle gate Access
** a UHF reader identifies the card sitting on your dashboard or held up to the windscreen as you approach.
  • Inventory / assets
    ** Library card etc
  • Events
    ** Concerts, Marathons etc
  • Presence detection (2FA)
** You use your implant to enter a room, but you have a UHF antenna monitoring your presence, there coukd be multiple scenarios, but when you leave and UHF antenna no longer reads your UHF card, the alarm is set, or you leave without setting the alarm, it triggers an alert.

As they say, “it is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it”

My Spark (Original) is ISO15963, I have had it for years, I have only used it once (for non-Spark functions), But I am also just happy having it as an option.
(The xSLX is an alternative for anybody without a Spark wanting ISO15963), so just like the UHF, for me, it’s more about having it than needing it.
Although, I do have a use…

I recently went to Disney and they have these special cups. You put them on the dispenser and it reads a UHF chip in the cup and dispenses your drink

You could theoretically write the cup chip to the card and use it on any drinking apparatus
