Good evening all, just wanted to share my success story which may help some of you, especially those in the UK I have an NeXT in my left hand.
I was sent for a spinal MRI today at an NHS hospital - West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St. Edmunds. After my referral they contacted me and I’d sent them the DT MRI safety info sheet and various other links about the compatibility of transponders with MRI, they reviewed these internally and called me to discuss as I am the first patient they’d had with a non-medical transponder type implant. The radiographers were very good and were happy to go ahead as long as I signed their standard foreign-body waiver form about risks, was alert during the scan and had access to the call button in case of any sensations or warming.
I underwent MRI today in one of their 1.5T machines, no sensations or any warming around my chip. They confirmed all good with them and that my MRI has settled their hesitations going forward with future scans. I can also confirm my NeXT is still 100% functional.
Feel free to use my MRI as evidence for other NHS hospitals if you’re having trouble getting them on side! Pop me a message me if you want more info, I’m happy to provide to help your case!
Cheers,
Henry
