well hmm… now i’m getting worried. we’ve had plenty of people claim no chip in the needle, but everyone eventually found it… but i mean, there’s always a chance it might not have been in the needle after all. in any case if you pop down to your doc office and ask for an x-ray … or even some dental offices have these tiny little digital x-ray sensors you can pop onto your hand and get a quick x-ray done that way… if there is no chip there we will obviously send you another one.
Oh that’d be great, but xrays will have to wait until after the holidays as I’m going to be out of town.
So earliest I’d probably be able to get them done would be after New year’s.
Here’s hoping it’ll start working before then, not looking forward to being stabbed again lol.
Now I’m wondering if maybe the chip could’ve slipped out of the needle during transport? Like falling out into the cap (I think that would’ve been quite noticeable) or falling out right before installation without being noticed?
Idk every idea I get seems less likely than the one before.
You could always try and locate it with a medium sized Neodymium magnet. Make a tight fist and slowly drag the magnet over your skin. The iron core in the x-series tags attracts pretty readily.
I’ve done this with even small ones. Despite the ferrous core, they are still MRI safe.
Had to track a magnet down,
Tried it but couldn’t find the missing chip.
That’s not a great sign
Yep, so by now I’m convinced there is nothing there, still can’t read the NExT with any device no matter what I’ve tried in the past hour or so. The spark 2 reads like a charm with my phone and everything else as does the xLED.
Furthermore I have not been able to feel the NExT under my skin like I can the others. The other two are quite obvious.
Really bummed out. At this point I don’t think I actually have a dud NExT in me but rather something bizarre happened and don’t actually have one at all.
When my first chip was implanted, my piercer was very careful to insert the needle deep into the skin and push the plunger all the way. Yet when she pulled the needle out, the chip came right out with it, but neither she nor I saw it. She was so sure the chip was in that she threw the syringe in the trash without looking. When I tried to feel the chip under my skin, I couldn’t feel anything. She tried too and couldn’t feel anything either.
After two minutes of this, she thought it was probably in my hand, but she figured she’d double-check the syringe in the trashcan just in case. Sure enough, the chip was there, barely hanging onto the tip of the needle… She cleaned it up good with alcohol and reinserted it in my hand. Yuk! In retrospect, I should never have allowed her to do that. But, well… that was 120 euros right there, and it turned out okay - no infection or disease or anything. Still… yuk!
Anyway, for my second chip, she pinched the skin when retracting the needle, to ensure the chip would stay behind under the skin. Then we both made sure we felt it under my skin, and I made sure I got a solid read before letting her throw the syringe out. It was very easy to miss the first time, I didn’t want it to happen to me twice.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happened to you with your NeXT.
Yikes! I wonder if something liek that could’ve happened. However I remmeber seeing the plungers on the tip of the needles and not seeing the chip anywhere, the xled and the next plungers one was light blue and the other bright yellow can’t remember exactly with was which(I think the xled was the yellow one).
thanks!
I’ll be extra careful with its install.
Really bizzare.
Well, with my second implant, of course I double-checked the tip of the syringe also to see if the chip was there, and I did notice that the tip of the plunger did look very much like the tip of my first chip that didn’t stay in. I actually moved the plunger back and forth to make sure it really was what was poking out of the needle.
Also, your chip could have come out of your hand and fallen on on the floor, unlike mine, in which case everything would have looked normal to you. I can totally see that happening: had my chip not decided to stick to the tip of the needle, I would have been 100% convinced it had gone in okay. And even after picking up the syringe from the trashcan, my piercer and I had to look at the needle up close to realize the chip was still there. Those things aren’t very big you know.
I guess the only way for you to be certain you don’t have it inside you is an x-ray at this point.
any updates? Haven’t heard from @mdangeror y’all.
Strange, she is normally really prompt.
also I’ll just insert @mdanger here so she gets the notification.
(looks like you had a typo in your post above.)
can you send a PM? ( not all member levels can )
otherwise you could send a message on DT webpage
So I tried sending a dm to @mdanger but I’ve gotten no response😕, I guess I’ll give it a couple more days before filling out the help thing.
Try one to Amal, they are normally really fast at getting back to people
Fill out the help thing. It will go to their email instead of the forum. We’re usually pretty self sufficient over here on the forum, so when the DT team is really busy doing the important work of developing and maintaining the business, they may not check in for a few days. It’s faster and more reliable to use the help line.
