Good day all, I’ve been scrolling the forum to figure out how to reset the pin in the Vivokey Passkey manager, as I have locked myself out. I set my pin a few months ago when I was getting everything set up and trying to learn how it all worked. But i have now forgotten my pin, and all my usual or usual adjacent pins don’t seem to be the answer.
I know most of the posts I’ve seen say to submit a ticket on the main site and then tag @amal here for assistance. However with the brand new and fancy website, I cannot find a place to submit a ticket. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey there so just some clarification.. passkey manager does not have or use a pin itself. Your hardware Fido/passkey token has a pin set on it, but passkey manager simply asks you for the corresponding pin when you present your passkey / Fido token.. if one is set on the token.
What are you presenting to passkey manager as your token? Fido tokens can be reset, which will clear the pin but also all cryptographic information, effectively rendering it factory clean. The process for doing this depends a little bit on which token you are using so I didn’t bother to build a reset process into passkey manager since it’s slightly different for each model.
If you are using an Apex, the easiest way to do this is to simply remove the FIDO2 application using the Fidesmo app, then redeploy it. This will clear everything out and leave it in a clean state with no pin set. If you then scan with passkey manager, it will ask you to set a new pin.
Thank you for the information Amal, it makes a lot of sense now. I have an apex flex, so by what you’ve said, I will go through that process. If it gives me any issues I will reach back out.
