What should I get for my left hand?

Greetings,

I’ve got a NExT V2 in my right hand and it’s been great so far. Now I’m looking to put something in my left hand that actually complements it instead of just duplicating what I already have.

For context: I work in CCTV and access control for a global high‑security outfit. My day is basically setting up servers, cleaning up whatever the installers managed to break, and dealing with every oddball credential format and reader quirk you can imagine. So, I get plenty of chances to test things in the wild.

With that in mind, I’m curious what other techs or multi‑implant folks have paired with their NExT V2.

I totally agree with Amal,

and it’s the same for me

This does suggest a FlexUG4 might be of interest to you

If you are not ready for a Flex just yet, a xMagic might be a good option for your P0 - L

But really, the flex is not too different with regards to installation, but the capabilities are considerably more than an xSeries

I’m ready for a flex. I reached out to a partner to discuss procedure and pricing already.

Both are very interesting, that writable UID with the UG4 is pretty neat though. I can see some convenient uses for the apex. Although I think that might have to be the third implant I get.

@amal @Pilgrimsmaster what do you use your apex for?

I’ve a bunch of Honeywell RMPK40 and a couple SIGNO readers that I want to use. I haven’t been able to get them to read the NExTv2. I think it’s a range issue. The SIGNO are particularly a problem because it uses touch buttons. Hard to get the chip to be seen when your hand is hitting numbers. Seems like the UG4 would be perfect for them though. The RMPK40’s have a HID puck in the back of them and I think it just is too far away to work with the NExTv2.

Pass keys, for passkey stuff including opening my KeyPass

OTP Authenticator

also Vivokey Vault, which is a new offering that works with an Apex

I’m thinking UG4 in the right hand with the NExTv2 in p0 and then later doing the Apex in the left. Kinda keeps the theme of the right hand being for access control stuff.

I already use passkeys for client sites, so the Apex in the left is something to consider.

Is there a good, portable, USB reader you can recommend?

If you’re right handed it makes tapping the left hand easy with your phone.

Are you wanting UID only?

UID only is perfect.

A Beer…

Oh wait, wrong forum… +1 for Apex

Well I’m getting #2 installed in my right so a beer in my left will make it feel less lonely, I guess.
