I have two XG3s v1s, one in each knifes edge, that both have to get removed so I can get an MRI and see how badly I tore my ACL…. I installed them myself, and I have been planning on removing them myself, but they are deeper in the knifes edge than I thought. Needless to say, I may need a professional, even though that sucks. (Though I am waiting on some lidocaine and scalpels…)
Does anyone happen to know where I may find a “relatively cheap” place to get them removed?
(Also separately, once removed can I still pay DT to have them re-sterilized so I can reinstall? I know there is a new version of the XG3 v1, so I’m not sure if it’s recommended to put the previous version back in (also assuming it doesn’t break on the way out), but I would miss my 6th sense)
Just wanted to update this if anyone has to deal with this around socal in the future.
I went to two different primary care doctors, and a hand surgeon and they all told me that insurance would almost certainly not cover it because it is an “elective surgery”…. (which is absurd as I really need an MRI)
So instead, I read up on the vasovagal reaction, prepped my mycology “still air box” for non-mycology work, and after 3 tries on one hand, and a single attempt on the other, they are out! (The hand image is a couple days post removal. I only just got the left hand one out)
(Also @tac0s/DTs is absolutely amazing for getting me replacements, I wish every business and community was as amazing as this one)
That is absolutely wild. In the Midwest here, I went to a shitty Urgent Care location that I happened to know had an Xray machine and tech available when I suspected I had broken my V2. After the Xray, the doctor legitimately would not let me leave the room without printing a referral good for the next 72 hours.
Of course I decided that was lame and expensive and went the same route you did.
Good friggin job, really. It is a lot do handle, and it sounds like you were committed. Plus the image above shows you did decent work under that pressure.
