Apex Flex NFC compatibility

Hi there! I was looking at getting an Apex Flex implant, but I was curious about it’s NFC compatibility. I have PN532 based tag readers (which I believe are 13.56 MHz) and I wanted to make sure they’ll be able to recognize the Flex. Bonus points if I can do it while also retaining its ability to be a security key at the same time.

EDIT
I just read Amals reply below, I thought you were referring to a door reader.

So yeah, What he said

this also might be worth checking out

Are these USB readers for connecting to a desktop computer? Like the acr122u is a PN532 based reader, and yes it works great with the Apex Flex

Technicallyyyy I am using them for door locks, but the tag readers are separate from the locks themselves, tag readers just tell home assistant to open the door. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it’s built like a breakout board, but in my case it’s hooked into an ESPhome controller to present it over wifi.

Awesome, I saw you can install applets like the fido2/u2f but I wasn’t sure if it’d be able to present as a tag and a security key at the same time without having to reprogram it, sounds like it’ll work pretty good for me, thank you all for the help!

There’s an entire thread about this:

Derailing the thread a little bit, I’d be thankful if you posted more details about your locks in my smart home thread, I could use some help and inspiration:

Turns out my lock works with my apex. Dropping a link here in case anyone is looking for one.

I kinda hate this thing tbh, but it does work. Configured via bluetooth/ their app which does god knows what.

All that said it functions well, has some nice configuration and does work with both my apex and next

Very interesting, That app looks VERY similar to the TTLock abd Tuya lock app, plus the lock itself looks vey much like it is one of their locks AND it is compatiable with the TTLock app.

I have yet to find a compatiable lock with an Apex, and i have tried a few, I knew there would be some out there, I wonder what they have done different in their code?

Anyway, good finding, and thanks for sharing.

Whoa, that’s awesome. I had a couple of Smonet locks before but stopped using them when they discontinued their lever style locks. No idea any of them worked with an Apex. This might be one of the first consumer grade locks that has Apex support (there are a couple of locks listed on the matrix, but I was never able to verify with anyone that they actually worked with a P71).

Interesting. Does it come with a type 4 transponder?

Sniffing is more of a Proxmark3 job, here’s an unrelated thread with some sniffing in it:
