Apex not working with new Tesla?

I just got a 2024 Model 3 and my Apex seems unresponsive to it despite having the keycard applet. Has anyone else experienced this? I ordered some repeater stickers in hopes it will help.

you’ve been around a while, and know what you are doing; I want to ask you questions, but don’t wat to tell you to suck eggs.

So I’ll pretend like i’m answering somebody else.

did the applet load correctly?

Did the Tesla app allow you to load it?

Have you enrolled a Tesla before?

Did you use your diagnostic tools to locate the antenna?

Are you presenting parallel to antenna, not perpendicular?

How long ago was your APEX installed?

Can you share a video of you trying to scan it?

I’ve had it installed for about a year. I didn’t think to try the field detector, but I will do that. I don’t have much faith though because I tried every conceivable angle.

Have you tried on the door pillar?

I have and it was the same story, no response. :frowning:

I am sure you have done it, but just in case, is it worth destroying the applet and reinstalling it afresh?

Oh my god I feel so dumb, that fixed it. Glad to have this community haha. Thanks! I think in the back of my head I thought the Fidesmo app would do integrity checks.

Glad it worked. The old switch off and back on trick….

Glad you got it figured out. I’m planning on getting one implanted soon as well for Tesla usage. Can you give us some feedback on the location for the implant - do you like where you got it? I’m right hand dominant and thought the Cybertruck authenticated in the center console between the seats, but I also practice Muay Thai so I thinking the back of the wrist just in case.

In the Highland Model 3, enrolling the keycard in the forearm is quite difficult (or maybe impossible). Even in P3, where mine is located, it was challenging to enroll. Luckily, after enrollment, you can scan on the door, and it will still allow you to drive—until you get out, at which point you’ll need to scan the door again.

Model 3:

The Cybertruck looks like it would be equally, if not more, difficult to enroll if implanted in the forearm. I’d recommend enrolling it prior to implantation just in case. In a worst-case scenario, you may be able to use a repeater sticker or press your forearm forcefully against the center console to get the perfect angle, allowing enrollment while implanted in the forearm.

Cybertruck:

I recommend P3 over the forearm for reasons beyond just Tesla compatibility—it’s simply easier to present to any type of reader in any orientation. If you’re concerned it might interfere with Muay Thai, you can always stick to the forearm, enroll it prior to implantation, and hope that, if you ever need to re-enroll post-installation, a combination of repeater stickers and creative arm angling would work.

I don’t know the exact coil placement of the Cybertruck, so it’s possible enrollment in the forearm would be easy. But based on my Model 3 experience, I can’t guarantee that getting a read in the forearm would be reliable (in the center console for enrollment, the door is easy to read in damn near any location).

Overall, no regrets going with P3—I’d do it again.

Maybe one of those @Hamspiced extenders is in order

What extenders are you talking about???
You mean the ones that may or may not only CURRENTLY exist in the DT Club :interrobang:

Well, there is another place, if you know where to look

But still a benefit by going through the club

Whoa, this is actually cool as hell.

Sad I had to cancel my DT Club sub—now I have to keep the FOMO at bay. :sob:

But yeah, @j0eblow, @Hamspiced extender product would definitely put any concerns to rest regarding reader accessibility for enrolling to the vehicle.

I always do announcement releases there before any other places. Stay tuned it’ll hit the lounge soon

Thank you for all the info. I think you’ve now convinced me that P3, and probably P2, are going to be the placements for my implants. If you had to choose where you place the Apex Flex and the xLED in those locations (P0 - P5 seems most applicable for me), where would you specifically place them?

I would recommend getting an xSIID instead of an xLED if the extra cost is okay with you. It’s an HF LED just like an HF xLED, but you also get an NTAG chip as a bonus if you ever want to use it for NDEF data like sharing your contact vcard or a URL.

I recommend the Apex in P3, and the xSeries in P0.

Got both installed, Apex Flex in P3 and xSIID in P0 yesterday. I’m trying to be patient, but should I be worried I can’t get easy reads yet? The areas are still red, I assume they are a bit swollen and wounds are healing, but I’m a bit worried the LED is not visible. xSIID was injected from finger side toward wrist.

EDIT: take that back about the EZ reads, seems like I can get consistent reads when I swipe over with my FlipperZero, just can’t see the LED…
