Same!

I kinda want to do this with my current board.

From what I’ve read, the latency of those is not that great for gaming on a 120hz monitor.

One feature that makes me think about modding and off the shelf board is that a few companies have USB receivers that allow you to pair both a mouse and a keyboard. And that’s helpful when you use a laptop. Getting the full performance without having to plug in a bunch of cables is nice and traveling with the tiny dongle for the peripherals that stay on my desk is not a big deal.

However, getting that convenience would require me to buy both a mouse and a keyboard.

These are the ones i use. I dont care what anyone else says about their length, its never been a problem for me.

Their K series are probably trash. The Q series i will argue is the best for gaming and i have never heard otherwise.

There are some that have bluetooth. However i havent seen good success with an all in one receiver. Wired Keyboard with any QMK based keyboard. (QMK is opensource firmware). For a gaming mouse i use a Pwnage stormbreaker and i have no complaints.

This is what I used to use back in the day. And I loved the convenience. But now that I have a 120hz screen I notice the difference when gaming.

Apparently Logitech, Razer, and Asus managed to figure it out. But early versions of multi-device had a reputation for lagging. Except for Logitech Unifying, but that one is no better than Bluetooth when it comes to performance.

I have another question; what about stabilizers? I’m thinking about adding some lube to my current board. I’m going to end up building a 1K board, aren’t I?

Definitely won’t be 1k.

I use durock V2 for decent cheap stabs they’re around 17$

Mode makes even cheaper stabs at 12$

But I always lube my stabs with krytox 205g0. Which is also the same lube I use for switches. Pick up a syringe of it. It’s worth it.

Ok, that $500 Azoth is sounds wonderful.

Ordered. I’m kinda tempted to experiment with the generic silicon grease that I use for o rings in the meantime.

No absolutely don’t.

I ruined many a switches experimenting. Krytox is known to not react with the nylon bodies as well as withstand hundreds of thousands of actuations, is non conductive and won’t liquify through it the actuation

So far, I’ve noticed if you have an all metal base. Applying two layers of blue painters tape to the base. And foam from green door geeks for your board, pair up with a nice tactile like Anubis switches has the deepest Thock with pbt caps.

It’s a beautiful combination

The issue with this hobby.

I don’t need these, but I want them. It’s even in my favorite color way

One of the things I love about this hobby is the attention to detail on items that no one will ever see.

This is a plate from hypekeyboards.ca and it’s absolutely beautiful. The prettiest side is the one that meets up with the PCB so it will never be seen.

It’s just so beautiful…

Changing out switches in my Satisfaction 75…

Is that an FR-4 plate?

I feel like weighing in here, my daily driver is a cherry g80 touchboard, it’s my first mechanical keyboard and it absolutely does not fit in with the aesthetic of the rest of my setup but that’s exactly why I love it

Have any pics of it? That’s an interesting layout. Is it all soldered keys?

I’d rather not post pictures as my desk is an absolute mess right now. The switches are soldered, and are cherry MX blacks. The same model was originally sold with dual PS/2 connectors if that tells you anything about its age, mine is fairly new though.

They are pretty common on industrial systems, no need for mouse and no trackball to get dirtied up with nasty nose pickers …
They are absolutely bulletproof and hold on to abuse like very few electronic does …

Got my lefty keyboard out of storage yesterday and tossed some new caps on. Keychron Q12 and some MOA style keycaps. I think this has the Kalih navy box switches. Extra clicky.
