After the loss of my first chip, I just got my new debit card and would to double check that it is CoM. It does have the the two little nodes that the demo pics show but there is a third one on the left that my last one didnt have.
My second question is geared more towards post conversation. Due to my own lack of testing and ignorance, I’m curious as to where conversion reads best from.
(I don’t have pic of mine pre installation, so I grabbed the demo pic) I know when you first harvest the chip you have test to make sure it reads and post conversion, an antenna is added on to bost readability. Does anyone know if the implant reads better from the chip end or from the antenna end (I’m assuming the antenna is the loop on the right). Unfortunately my current one is unreadable so I can’t test this myself and didn’t think of it until now. (This is more of a convenience question as itll give me a spot on the implant to use when searching for the sweet spot on old and wonky card readers)
Lastly, is there a specific way the implant needs to installed? More specifically, should the chip face be facing away from the bones or towards the bones? (This is more for research purposes, I would like to learn from my last one and see if maybe how I had it installed added to it demise)
Thanks in advance for any information and if this topic exists already, I’m sorry for the double post.
It looks like a CoM to me. If you place a flashlight behind the chip, you should see a smaller separate coil around it, apart from the main antenna of the card.
Antenna end should read better.
And I’ll leave the third question to someone who knows more about these things.
the photos are lowish quality as I’m trying to hide the card info
But there seems to be a lot more than just a standard coil and none of this is inside my other debit card.
I don’t exactly remember what my old card looked like, but I don’t remember there being 13 little square sections in it. A quick Google search does show that these have existed for a quite a few years and (correct me if I’m wrong) possibly act like a capacitor.
I’m assuming the little bulb from photo 2 is an antenna to increase transmission range to encapsulate the entire card.
However, none of these features are present in my other debit card (different bank). I’m assuming I should still be good to dismantle the card though. I do apologize if these are common knowledge things, I have slacked considerably lately in studying up on this type of stuffs.
I have a card with similar structures in it. But sadly, I can’t really tell what some of those things are with the little visibility that I have.
I assume that this style of card uses an aluminum antenna and that the square looking things are part of some form of tuning network. I think that those are probably resistors but I’m probably wrong. And if you take a closer look, there’s a gap in one of the traces that runs parallel to those, so this is probably laser trimmed.
I think that my hypotheses are correct.
That’s also likely, as the antenna clearly has two layers and vias between the two.
Anyways, you can see the coil where the chip would go even if it’s a different design to the cards that we have.
