Dead Apex and Flex implant warranty?

  • Who performed the installation?
That’s Tom van Oudenaarden, a pietcer in Utrecht NL) who is known to you
  • Do you have video / photos of the process?
Thank god no  he did, however, explained the entire process. A small cut was made. Some special type of flat spoon was used to create a pocket, the implant was inserted by hand (no tools) and afterwards 3 stitchedls.
  • Was the implant autoclaved or treated by the installer before installation, or was it simply dropped from the pouch to the sterile field?
Droped from the pouch to the sterile fielfs
  • What tools were used? Did they use the needle or some other cutting tool? Did they pick up the Apex with their hands or did they use a tool to pick it up and place it?
    No tools

ah yay! Tom is doing installs again? That’s cool

Hmm… hah well he had to use something to make the cut with… but you’re saying that after making the incision and dermal pocket, he slid it in by hand. Did there appear to be any sort of resistance to this at any point, or did it just slide in easily?

That correct: a knife to make the cut and a “spoon” to create the pocket.
It slided right in, by hand

Ok well I don’t see any reason to think that the implant was damaged during installation.

With the ACR122U reader, when you plug it in, does the green LED light up or is the LED dark?

The reader beeps and turns green when scanning.
The thing is: I’m on a mac and dont have any drivers for the reader. So i cant actually access the implant from my mac

This suggests its working fine, but the ACR122U is a really good reader, Phones are not the best, nor a comparable option.

2 weeks is what we generally suggest, but sometimes things take longer.

You will likley have swelling/inflamation even if it is not apparent.
It all makes a difference.
Over time, it will continue to improve, and you install looks like it will be quite good, as it is nice and shallow.

With your iPhone, are you reading it with the top edge of the iPhone parallel with the APEX?
Hold it still, and when you do move, just move it small amounts, and move slowly.
( Make sure your phone is unlocked also)

The ACR122u is a very good sign

Very much sounds like it just needs a little more time to heal to me

Jeah!
After exactely 3 weeks it starts to work  at this moment, I can use the apex with my iphone when it’s out of its cover, so the patience is rewarded

indeed.

And it should continue to improve, so depending on the case, you should hopefully not need to remove the case to get a read.

I would highly reccommend you grab youself a set of these.

Hmmm… the stickers don’t work on my
Iphone. That is: they do work, but on the iphone (or inside the case) there is no spot where they work their mgic. I’ve tried it as close to the antenna as possible. That would be the spots marked with the red arrows.
The antenna itself is located at the top (green arrow).

You can bend the sticker around that edge for the case . Also another option is to place it outside of the case, that is where i have mine on my pixel. If you can create “some” distance between the devices you get better results.

The sticker doesnt stick on the outside my case.
Placing the sticker on the antenna and bending it, results in the sticker covering my camera or my screen.

Sorry buddy, I really thought they would help.
Mine is amazing on my Samsung.

I think the Apex Works well, the stickers are awesome and the iPhone is great…but only what it is made for, whiich is not implants, but rather, payment etc. and in my opinion, the iPhone NFC Antenna locarion is is the best spot for THAT purpose.

Again my opinion, Apples NFC implementation of NFC is not great, and the great antenna position they chose, is far smaller than what most other phone manufactures have adopted on the back of the phone, allowing for a much larger antenna.

Can you guage if there is any improvement with the sticker in place vs not using an xFD to measure?

So you are at about a month of healing?
and you location and install looked really good.

Im going to take a cop out here and say, “just wait another 2 weeks”

I lkow there are other iPhone users that it works for, im sure, yours will be the same.

Apple do some things really well…NFC is not one of them

Well, it is what it is. I too think that waiting another couple of weeks will improve the reading while having the iPhone in the case. It sometimes still feel sore when I rub it. So I guess it is still healing.

The stickers were an experiment, too bad it is not helping,

But on the other hand: it might help others to read about it in this thread.

Still happy with the apex flex overall.
And I’m using the next few weeks to wrap my head about the use case of storing my crypto on it, using wallet software on the iPhone. Another something in which the iPhone isn’t the easiest one

Great attitude and update

ALSO

This does indeed sound like it is still healing, Being sore is not a normal sensation around any implants when they are working as they should…

There is still hope you will get a read through your case
