Dead Apex and Flex implant warranty?

Smart! I will try that.
I”m thinking of the bottom of my forearm, near the wrist, will be ergonomically the best place, since I need to tilt the iphone

What do you mean exactly by “tilt”? With the sticker properly placed you shouldn’t need to do any weird positioning shenanigans to get it to read (in my experience at least), if that’s what you mean. I attached a video of me reading mine, also roughly marked my apex on my arm so you have an idea of orientation.
The NFC stack in iOS is complete ass, but usable once you get used to its quirks. If you find yourself trying for more than like 10 seconds, cancel out and try it again. I find that after a while it won’t read no matter what until you start the process again.

Thanks for the video!
I really need to lift the iphone in an almost 90 degree angle to get a reading

I think I know what you mean now, along the top of the phone on the antenna? That used to be the best reading spot for me for all NFC stuff (except my apex would never read) until I got the sticker. It’s a game changer for sure, I don’t think I can go back lol.

I’d recommend trying the sticker again, even if the adhesive is done for. Just tape roughly in the right spot to test it out if that’s the case.

Also, you mentioned having a ACR1252. Have you tried reading your apex in yubico auth within macOS using that? That works pretty reliably for me on a ACR122U (maybe knockoff) without any new (manual) driver installs under both windows and macOS. I just kinda hate how the TOTP codes disappear once the smart card is no longer on the reader

sorry to necro this but for anyone else thinking of putting the repeater on an iphone

  1. there is no need to bend it round the phone, it just misshapes the field to be less than optimal & degrades the antenna over time, shortening the lifespan of it.

  2. i cant tell if OP’s phone back is glass or metal, but if its metal, don’t stick it directly on the back of your phone, stick it on the case, it reduces interference

ive stuck mine here:

as the NFC antenna in the iphone encompasses the whole back halo of the phone so the repeater can pick it up easily, putting it here i get super clear signal strength (can show field detector if needed) and it localizes where i need to tap my phone (the sticker) when i want to scan something, instead of using the top edge of the phone.
