Interesting. Here there are limits imposed by local government (but local govt is so regulated by the state they have to follow “model laws” which set standards). Basically 10pm to 7am is quiet time every day except Sunday which is to 8am. They are not really enforced as no council officers work nights and while police can charge with an offence, they really don’t enforce council bylaws.
The State then allows police issue noise abatement directions. That can be imposed at officer discretion. They last 24 hours and of breached the source of the noise can be seized (like stereos etc). Directions can be given at any time. It’s also an offence to breach a police direction.
On top of that, as neighbours I would just go and say something. Pretty sure their would be other neighbours equally pissed off and willing to support me.
I know Germany and similar areas have actual offences for noise abuse. We don’t until after you get a warning and breach it.
Clearly you live in a very different world. I seriously can’t comprehend how you put up with this.
I honestly cannot remember the last time I was annoyed by noise. Maybe 20 years ago when the young fellow next door brought his first car and blared his music at about 2pm. We had a new born and my wife went and ripped him a new one and he stopped…
Yeah. I would have burnt down their house for that shit. And every neighbour would have agreed it was a lightning strike, ebike battery or something similar!
