Yeah probably a video actually
So two quick questions just out of curiosity:
- if the coil is alread on the chip, what exactly is the CoMuter board doing?
- what’s the realistic max width of an implant that can be installed using a needle?
Resonant repeater for increased range
8mm
I’m going to qualify that with, depending on the shape.
I installed a FlexM1 (8mm wide, wedge shaped) with no issue.
I installed a FlexNT (8mm wide, Rectangular shaped) this needed further opening with a scalpel, This is not reccomended, but it did work for me.
Interesting, thanks for the info!
The CoM module is very small, has metal blocking one side entirely so the field can’t pass through properly, and it’s tuned far from the NFC frequency (about 18MHz). All of these factors mean it can’t be used directly as an implant. The CoMmuter board is fixing the tuning, and reshaping the field.
I gave up on installing these with the flex needle immediately because the smallest CoM modules are 9mm tall, and some are even 12mm. With encapsulation edges these require a scalpel and dermal elevator install procedure. A bodymod artist may be about to walk the needle around and widen the pocket, but that seems like it would create a gnarly wound that would take longer to heal
