flexUG4 out of stock. Any idea when it'll be available again?

I’m looking to get my first implant, and my main use case is access control. I was hoping to get the flexUG4 and I’ve been struggling trying to make sure I finished all of my research. Apparently while I was digging, it went out of stock! Any idea when it’ll be available again?

We are looking into an antenna redesign. Stay tuned.

It is a great chip, However I would say 2 things about it.

  1. The Ultimate Magic 4 chip is very versatile; You need a Proxmark3 to get the best out of it (and the knowledge to use it (there are lots of resources available))
A Flipper Zero is also a good alternative.

  2. The flex antenna works, but reads are not as easy as some other Flex implants

So hearing this

This is great news, If the past is anything to go by, it will be worth the wait.

The only problem (for me) do I get a new one when it releases!?

You know the answer to such a silly question

Awesome play of words
I needed this today, thank you

If you wanted to be first in line we could open up preorders for the new antenna… but no ETA right now for delivery… could be as late as August depending on all the nuances with iterative design and China tariff circus at the moment.

I have a pretty decent idea the kinds of things I’m going to use this for and I have basic working knowledge of how to use my proxmark RD4 (I also have a flipper but it’s a bit harder to do any in depth work). So I’m confident this is the right chip for me.

Would an antenna redesign change any of the installation info? Hopefully this can still be needle installed. I’m super anxious about trying to find an installer who will work with me.

No the antenna design is all about improving performance, not the operation or installation of the chip

Roughly how much of an improvement would this redesign be? I just received my ug4 and am now wondering if I’ve jumped the gun too early

I can’t answer that question, and I may be speaking out of school, but I can posit a GUESS.
I think it will be along the lines of the ** REDACTED ** (I think currently only mentioned in the DT Club)

My guess is:
Same thickness (height), ~15% longer, twice as wide

Take this with a pinch of salt.

Again a GUESS but I think if the aim is an improvement, it will be worth while, BUT as mentioned above, My GUESS is, It will come as a significantly larger implant, so you will need to take that into consideration before making a decision.

admittedly I did wake up like 10 min ago but… looks like it’ll still be a narrow flex to me rather than the Big Honkin’ Module™️

Nah, it will be a standard flex

Nice! that’s some black magic skills

well done you!

The problem is simply that all these Chinese magic chips all have slightly different capacitances, but they also generally have very broad tuning tolerance, meaning if a 27pF chip and a 32pF chip use the same 29pF tuned antenna they will both work at around 98% performance bs having a perfectly tuned antenna… not enough to even notice the difference… so that’s what we did.

Unfortunately the UG4 has a much more narrow sensitivity to tuning so the small tolerance differences of chip capacitance and antenna inductance meant that some of our flexUG4 chips were wildly underperforming, while others were ok. We pulled the bad performing ones and shipped the others while we worked on a new antenna tuned just for these chips. We ran out of stock before we were able to get the new antennas sorted so we put the product on hold.
