Flipper Zero - Kickstarter RFID/RF/BLE/USB/IR

I guess the new preorders are still being done in batches. I was one of the first 1000, probably even earlier, since I was picked to test the launch of the store.

How are the Kickstarter backers doing? I thought there were a lot on the forum, would have thought they’d have got theirs by now (not sure if that’s how Amal got his, or if it was a special deal since he’s, ya know, Amal. Can’t remember if he was a backer).

I’m a Kickstarter backer but haven’t got any shipping information yet.

I just went on the discord, apparently the first batch is US only, and if your order has any add-ons (the wifi board, other shells, etc), it’ll be in the next shipping batch at the end of the month.

4541 orders are in this batch, they expect 6-9 more days until people start getting devices in hand for this first batch.

This batch is also only the white flippers.

Also, I hope Anna is alright with me posting this here:

Only January 3rd and before. @Eriequiet that’s why yours wouldn’t be in this batch.

Nothing yet, but I’m sitting in Germany, so I guess I have to wait a bit still.

I ordered mine in July of 2020, No shipping updates as yet, I have waited this long, I can wait a little longer.

The expected delivery was Feb 2021
In Jan 2021 ( knowing there were delays, but just in anticipation) I did up a draft Review, expecting that I would get mine earlier than most…

I can change ownership to whomever wants to do the first review, Or, of course, just make your own if you would prefer.

Just got my last chance to change address email this morning. So I guess they are shipping mine soon.

Review review review review

Here’s my review… it’s great. Everyone should get one. Works with glass tags and flex. I’m sure more features for writing things like magic tags are coming… it’s just a matter of software. Sorry I’ve been a total failure at actually producing a video review @koteeq

You got a lot of things in the pipeline, I think a lot of us want apex to launch, 50% so you can take a break

I’m an over eager man child, never take my impatience as anything more than that

I’m already getting one, but if I wasn’t, That review (Amals recommendation) would be good enough for me

Same! I woke up to this email this morning so I’m hoping for a shipping notification soon.

Assuming that the Flippers start moving tomorrow (since today is President’s day), I’m hoping that I’ll get mine by the weekend, in which case I plan on posting an in-depth video review.

What all would people want covered?

Here’s what I’m planning to cover:

  • Unboxing and included materials/documentation
  • Reading/writing LF and HF cards and implants (flex and glassie, although flex will be through the package, not installed yet)
  • HID emulation/rubber ducky mode
  • Infrared remote learning and emulation
  • Simple radio replay attacks, likely using my remote control ceiling fan (have already tried this with my HackRF, it worked great, should work with the flipper)
  • Potentially iButton, if it works with my Java ring
  • The desktop application, and the mobile companion app
  • Usage as a bluetooth serial console (I believe this was one of the features)
  • Potentially adding a small plugin as a test of the ease of programming (including a light look through the source code structure)

If there’s anything I haven’t listed that you’d like covered, let me know and I’ll add it. Hoping for something ~20 minutes in total length, with a more general overview at the beginning.

Hf, can you write nfc?
Can you store nfc in library to write to implant

Mifare classic uid change (I don’t think it does this but bonus)

Can you detect chip type

According to the website, it should be able to read, write and emulate tags.
As access is at a low level, you should be able to write magic tags as well once there is software support for it.
You probably can’t emulate more “advanced” tags like DESFire but the common NTAGs should be possible

Websites often say lots of things,
Trust but verify

The NFC chip they claim to use is capable of those things. As you can customize the firmware, i don‘t see why it wouldn’t work.
Mine hasn’t shipped yet, so i cant test.
However they made a blog post regarding NFC and RFID.
I‘ll look up the chip and its capabilities tomorrow.

According to that blog, it lacks both NDEF and mifare classic functionality currently

The NDEF is a shame

I continue to find little things interesting like, that in their list of tag types, implants is notably absent, and no mention in any of their literature I have seen
Along with their April 1st video of reading an implant seemingly being removed

In a whim I went back and searched every blog post I could find, and I could find a single reference to implants

I believe they had pushback either external or internal and disassociated pretty hardcore

Either way, it can write the most common LF tags so it’s at least a better option than a proxmark rdv4 with Bluetooth for portability
