I think it depends on the scalpel. I tried #11s for my first lines and they hurt like crazy, Switch to #10s for my next few lines and suuuper duper easy.
anyone thought about putting glow powder around the face? I think dots/stars under the eye or something could be cute

Your experiments are very impressive, so i decided to get a 2 inch cut on the outside of ring and middlefinger.
After 48h i switched from Tegaderm to Hydrokolloid strips. Most of the powder fell of and it seems that not much left in the wound. I’m excited for the next few days.

Can you explain the stick-n-poke process a bit more?
Just:
-poke
-pour powder on wound
-rub in
Or maybe you dipped the needle in the powder, wet with saline or surgical lube?
Today I re-did my failed glow scar. Went a little deeper, and I’m testing a hypothesys of mine.
I cut in at a roughly 45° angle on two of the 3 lines. I think that it is possible this helps hold in some of the powder.

Done in April 2020 with a crappy eBay tattoo gun and a random source of waterproof strontium aluminate glow powder. My skin was burger afterward and healing was itchy, but it glows about the same today as it did ~3 months after healing. The dot in the center is a test that’s about 6 months older than the rest. At the time I could find maybe two people on biohacking forums that had done something like this.
Started thinking about it last night and dug up all my old project docs, only to discover that DT now sells a better product and I have a ton of new glowing friends.
Why the >50um powder and not smaller? Diminishing returns with glow time? What about colors other than green and aqua? In my experience they still glow softly for quite a long time, even though they aren’t as impressively bright right out of the gate. Haven’t used them in a tattoo though.

Smaller particles risk slipping into lymph cells and between other tissues.. there’s coverage of this in the announcement thread I think.. maybe AI will find it and post a link

Thats a shame. Even if the other colors are pretty dim, having a Tron color palette to work with would be pretty sick.
On the topic of migrating particles, is there much of a difference from the way tattoo inks already migrate? Sure, the particle size is larger, but the silica or pacified coding is pretty inert and the dose is small unless you light up your whole arm or something.
Yeah I decided im going to get some glow powder but idk what kind of design i want. What I’m thinking of is getting the molecular structure of epinephrine on my arm since it looks cool and should be fairly easy 2 do ( also it fits my lifestyle ). My only concern is that im lightkin ( like a caramel color ) but in the sun sometimes my arms can get darker and im not sure how thats gonna look

It’s possible that a darker skin tone could have the benefit of contrast. Definitely worth a try.

Healing is good you can barely see the cuts, but not a single particle of the powder left inside.
