Alright, hi, I need a sanity check on this from folks who know more than me, so here goes.
I’ve been thinking about doing something with glow powder on the back of my neck. This SOUNDS like a bad idea, and probably is–I’d also be DIYing with help from a (medically trained, but NOT glow powder experienced) associate. I’m aware this is probably, medically speaking, stupid, but I want to also hear it from someone else who doesn’t have the “oh but that’d be SO COOL” voice singing just as loud. (FTR: would be looking at something about middle-fingernail sized, like ~1cm across and ~1cm high, low powder density. Placement is ideally about ~1.5-2cm under the hairline.)
Wold this be as stupid as it sounds to me? If it’s less stupid, how would y’all suggest going about it?
Nods! This is mostly a safety/sanity check; I feel like abt ~2cm below the hair line on the back of the neck is Probably Really Dangerous, but the allure of glowy is calling me.
From my medical knowledge the powder itself would be fine in a suspended state, the particle size is the only real danger to the skin if a patch test doesn’t show negative results, you just need to be careful not to inhale it or get it in the eyes as it’s an extreme abrasive.
Would likely work fine in a clear face paint gel at a 1 dust 5 gel ratio for adequate suspension, just wear respiratory and eye protection and do a proper patch test. Don’t try intra-dermal IMO, it’s just not safe.
A couple of safe recommendations for the gel should you decide to use it this way:
