A really good meal costs less that $20 where I live. Still, I bought all of my favorite games for way less. Steam sales are awesome!
IIRC I payed full price for Cyberpunk 2077, and I hated it. But this hate grew over time as the story developed so it was too late to ask for a refund when I was done with it. 
A big advantage of waiting for sales is that you don’t get carried away by the marketing and hype. And if the game sucks, you won’t feel as bad for paying full price.
