Looking for someone in Syd Australia with a PM3

Hi All,

I am in Sydney Australia for the next 36ish hours. And i am wanting to pick up a magic MF1K from Joeltron. However, i am wanting to know if my Translink card (similar to Sydney’s Opal Card) can be cloned onto it. Im hoping someone in Sydney will see this message today / Tomorrow morning, and if i can meet up with them to see if its possible to get a dump of my card, and ask a few questions about a PM3 before i purchase one.

I have tried dumping it with a ACR122U unit i purchased, but i have not succeeded. But this may be because i dont fully understand what im doing.

So, im hoping that someone on here is near the CBD and we can meet up and i can ask some questions to before 100% committing to the implant. My transport options are limited, so the closer to the CBD would be great.

Feel free to reply here and we can go from there.

OR, if anyone in Brisbane has first hand experiance and knows that cloning a Translink card works and what not, that would also be great.

try scanning the card with taginfo using “full scan” mode and post the XML file (tap share icon and email yourself the file)

I can say that it’s unlikely you can clone it.. transit cards are like money.. and leaving money unsecured and easily copied is very unlikely. If you really want a transit card implant, you may have to look at custom conversion service.

When I scan it using either NFC tools on my android, it shows up as a Mifare Classic 1K. See the image below.

But i cant find enough info out there on using the MCT to determine if it has actually read all the card sectors or not. When i scan it, I can see it show up “1492 keys loaded” and it seems to take a long time to make any “key mapping progress”. So, i think its trying to bruteforce it. but im not 100% sure.

ahh ok… give me 20-30min, i will return with that info. the MCT tool is about 2/3 of the way though. Once done, i will get the info you requested and upload.

If you can give me a quick primer on what / how to save what i need from the MCT tool to upload here, i can do that also.

cool. Im from Brisbane also.

Ah, i just scanned it using Taginfo, and it shows it as a EV1. So I assume thats why it cant be cloned?

Roughly where abouts in brisbane are you located? I would like to get to understand more about this so catching up for a few beers one night would be great if your into that sort of thing.

I think our only answer will lie in a payment conversion with a bank that works in Australia.

Then you can tap on and off using your credit or bank card.

While im down here, Im staying in a hotel, and i scanned the card using the MCT tool, and it came back with a bunch of stuff. How can i tell if it dumped it all correctly? im not exactly sure what to look for etc.. I dont have a magic card here currently to write it to, but if i can tell by looking at the data, that would be great.

Are you able to post the data?

If it has a 4 byte UID and you have the keys for all sectors (it should tell you if sectors are still locked) then you may be able to duplicate it.

I have found most of the bigger chains of hotels in Sydney, Melbourne and Brissy use DESfire and they can’t be copied.

Also their readers are usually too low powered to read an X series implant.
