Interesting article about saline injections, totally NSFW : (NSFW) Is that Saline in Your Balls or Are You Just Happy to See Me? | The4thWall

Pretty cool blog! Thanks for sharing - I got stuck on the article about Fakir Musafar they had over there, and now I’m thinking a lot about it…

Those look awesome once healed! I’ve considered both the ribs and the acme threads but so far only Amal has managed to get under my skin.

Goddamn, now I’m interested in getting a reddit account as well…
NSFW combined with

sounds interesting for sure

If I’m not mistaken, you can browse without an account. You might have to change the NSFW filter in the settings to have some posts appear. Unless that requires an account, not sure about this. I’ve had a Reddit account for so long (well, 2 actually :innocent:).

Please ignore my fucked up nail bed… this is what my little implant looks like after exactly three weeks, picture taken last friday:

The scar looks really fine, not painful or tense at all, and the swelling above the implant is slowly going down. I can’t see a star yet (I know this will take some more time…), but at night, I can see a faint glow :star_struck:

I’ve returned to work last week, and I can use my hand just fine - no pain, no need to pay any special attention to it, even reaching into the pocket of my pants is no problem. So I finally just realized that an implant, full on with scalpel, dermal elevator and sutures, heals a freaking lot faster than any piercing I ever had

Hell yes. And the placement is much more precise than the needle (for implants).

Scar looks great. Eager to see the skull more defined in a few months.

That’s amazing to hear!! That’s good too that you were able to take time off during the initial healing period.

Right? I got my hand and ear cut up around the same time I got my nostrils piercing, and I’m sure you can guess which ones are healed by now.

Great paired nostrils… It’s making me even more tempted :needle_custom:

Nice!
Curious to see the star! :star_struck:

Yep!

Implants like that have 2 bits to heal

  • “seal the wound’s entrance”, which is easy and fast. takes less than a week if you don’t mess with it
  • “pocket that foreign body inside!”, which again is quite a quick process if you don’t have an infectious body there.

Now with piercings, by keeping that bit of metal crossing between the “outer realm” and “inner realm” of our bodies, we are effectively preventing the body from healing until it gives up and, maybe, heals around it.

I like the automatic door metaphor!!

An implant would be to walk up to the door with a ball in your hands.
Then wait the doors to open.
Throw the ball inside.
Wait the doors to close and the ball to stop rolling.
Done.

A piercing…
Wait the doors to open.
Then you hold the ball in between the doors.
The doors try to close. bump into the ball, and re-open.
Now you keep there holding that damn ball and watching the doors closing on the ball and re-oppening…
Keep repeating untill the repetitive bouncing on the ball starts to bend the edges of the doors into a ball shaped dent, so that at some point the doors will be able to close just enough around the ball that they won’t bother to open again.

Me too!
The scar is developing nicely, still slightly red, but no pain or irritation; and the star is slightly visible at night because it glows - but no way you’d see it during the day!
I mean, there’s a bump on my finger and one of the star’s spikes is a bit visible, but it still looks very much just like, well, a bump. I’d estimate it’s still about 4-6 weeks until I can see the outlines clearly. Just a rough guess, might even take longer…
I know my power button was visible (as a power button, not just as a bump) after about 11 weeks, the star is now good 10 weeks old - considering that the power button is a lot thicker, I think the star might take longer to finally stand out nicely.

And it’s sooo comfortable! I’d never thought it would be so easy - no problems at all in daily life, even if I occasionally hit it (hands doing hands stuff…).

I never heard that before, but now I definitely like it, too! Just the perfect description
I talked to a colleague some days ago, she really likes helix piercings and occasionally ponders on getting one, but she said she’s afraid it might be “annoying” for some time - I told her it will be for sure, for quite some time. Piercings just require patience and some adjustment to daily habits
Oh how I hated terry towels when I got my nostril piercing…

edit:
Oh wow… I might be late, but I just realized that bmezine.com no longer exists… or at least doesn’t for now, and I’m not sure if it ever returns.
It’s strange, but it feels like one of my favorite “internet homes” has just disappeared… this is sad.

That is sad indeed… :sob:

:joy:

I feel you! XD

I hated them on other pierciengs, though…
Think growing up with rhinitis messed up any Ideas around nose piercings I could’ve had!

yeah, the middle of the skin needs time to sink back in!

They set up a mastodon instance, I’m currently figuring out how that all works - I’m not that much into social media
But I already saw some wonderful suspension videos from the early 2000s there… badly lit industrial warehouses, lots of interesting people, great music in the background and terrible video quality  I wish stuff like that would still take place.

I’m currently thinking about getting two high nostrils and attaching a thin, flat titanium “strip” to them that sits across my nose, similar to this thing here, just a bit thinner and higher up the nose…

But I’m still a bit unsure about the high nostrils themselves - I imagine the “inside” part of the piercing to be pretty uncomfortable. Dunno. Gonna talk about that with my piercer when festival season is over (or, if I’m impatient enough, before it starts  )

I’m pretty sure that you guys created this thread to tempt me into getting a lot of bodymods in one go… I like how that looks.

That would look AMAZING!!! :star_struck:

I always loved bridging nose mods!! :purple_heart:

Yes and no…
It’s a pain in the ass to make it, but once settled and healed, you kinda no longer feel it.

Coming from someone who’s shameless, I doubt this is the forum for it.

BME… even on a chainmail forum… yep!
But here the focus shifts too far from that to the point I would feel like sending an unsolicited deck pick by posting anything with “too much skin” here.

even being on a specific thread for it we would probably push some great people away just to please a couple lurkers… not worth it.

Or, looking from another angle…
Happy with Bloodplay. it’s a cool fetish and all. could even star in a porn out of that myself. But…
Would not be happy to promote install videos as porn.

There’s a distinction there for a good reason.
